There is an old saying: when you meet a bear in the forest, you don't need to run faster than the bear, you only need to run faster than your companion.
The battle between Fang Senyan and Legolas was the same; Fang Senyan didn't need to kill Legolas, he only needed to survive longer than him in the fight. The eager-to-fight and already exhausted Legolas surely wouldn't engage in a protracted battle as Fang Senyan wished.
Thus, the sequence of the battle unfolded exactly as Fang Senyan had conceived, though he hadn't anticipated that Legolas would launch a desperate counterattack, using his divine artifact as the ultimate finishing blow! Fortunately, in the end, it was Fang Senyan’s overwhelmingly dominant talent that secured the final victory.
For this very reason, when facing the "backdoor" set up by Gandalf, Fang Senyan remained impassive with a cold smile, seemingly at a loss. However, from a distance, Zī could be seen with her eyes closed, floating upwards.
With her as the core, several fierce beams of light shone out from behind her. These beams looked inherently dangerous, resembling molten steel, possessing a heart-stopping, scorching heat and a burning redness. Yet, these lights pierced through several Contractors and story characters, whose expressions remained unharmed, as if nothing had happened.
The only explanation was that the light originated from Zī, but its effect was not on this world! The Wraiths currently moving Legolas's corpse, along with the inexplicably floating Black Arrow and the Bow of Lothlórien, suddenly emitted piercing shrieks! They then turned into wisps of smoke and vanished!
The contingency plan laid out by Gandalf and the Maiar was to utilize extra-dimensional beings to retrieve the spoils of war, striving to salvage even the last bit of loss. But Zī already possessed the ability to interfere with spacetime translocation, capable of nullifying even items imbued with spatial power. Now, having acquired legendary equipment, she was truly like a tiger with wings?
As Zī coldly retracted the ritual dagger from her hand, the vicinity around the White Tower vibrated violently, as if space itself was experiencing intense fluctuations. A terrifying sound even emanated, resembling the sound of a blade scraping viciously across a glass surface, but magnified a hundredfold, compelling one to cover their ears to avoid having their very soul tormented by the horror.
The Maiar could only project their wills here, not their full power; a fierce wind swept through, like their furious roars.
Immediately after, terrifying flames, not of this world, ignited the upper levels of the White Tower, instantly incinerating the white stone into glowing, incandescent magma!! Undoubtedly, no one remaining on the upper floors would survive, but their souls were carried away by the enraged Náyë. They would then proceed to the blessed realm of the Elves, Aman, where the World Tree would safeguard their souls and reshape their bodies.
(Note: The Valar are the ancient High Gods. After subjugating the Dark Lord Morgoth, they ascended to a higher plane, where the dimensional barrier significantly obstructed their power. This is why Morgoth's lieutenant, Sauron, could dominate Middle-earth, while the departed Valar could only watch helplessly from their high plane, able only to dispatch subordinates like Gandalf the Maia to execute their will.)
This outcome was no surprise to the Contractors on the side of Darkness, as the Dark Emissary had previously warned them of this potential consequence. Now, they surged forward. Their first priority was naturally to completely destroy the foundation of the White Tower, followed by wiping out any remnants near it to secure ultimate victory.
At this moment, Fang Senyan suddenly closed his eyes, having clearly received some sort of prompt regarding the spoils of war. Following this, a black light shimmered over Legolas's corpse. Then, that incredibly potent Black Arrow, like a trapped beast, thrashed wildly in the air, struggling against the decree of fate, before finally being constrained by an invisible force and delivered before Fang Senyan!
Truthfully, this situation seemed overly coincidental. Fang Senyan had killed Legolas and instantly acquired his most valuable possessions. After all, in most previous adventures, high-level story characters often yielded only common trash. But when considered in light of the deeper plot mechanics of this campaign, it felt anything but unexpected.
This was a contest between multiple spatial wills; a war where the spatial rules were utilized to their absolute limit!
Both participating sides derived immense benefits from this engagement, not just Fang Senyan—nearly everyone benefited. For those who killed others, the chance of nothing dropping was slim. Had Fang Senyan not already received a massive drop when he eliminated Aragorn earlier, Legolas's body would certainly have yielded far more. Because of this dynamic, those who participated in and survived the spatial war would invariably have absorbed the nourishment of others, often manifesting as a transformative surge in power.
Despite how unwilling and how much the divine artifact Black Arrow struggled and twisted, it could not escape Fang Senyan's grasp, and he snatched it up. Immediately, a cascade of system prompts flooded in:
You have successfully plundered the Lesser Divine Artifact: Black Arrow / Also known as Dragon-Slaying Arrow / Smaug's Doom
The artifact is shrouded in mist; you have not yet obtained the Artifact Spirit’s acknowledgment and thus cannot view its detailed attributes.
This is a bizarre and powerful weapon. It possesses a noble lineage derived from the potent weapons used by the ancient Vala. Forcibly using it without sufficient capability will inflict extremely severe trauma upon the wielder.
Basic Equipment Condition (Can only utilize up to 50% power): ??? Advanced Equipment Condition (Can only utilize up to 70% power): ??? Full Equipment Condition (Can utilize full power): ??? ???? Equipment Condition (Can utilize the weapon's limit power): ???
Origin: Omitted (Refer to previous text for details)
This weapon can be used in two ways: melee or ranged. In melee, it can be held by the fletching end as a short spear; when ranged, it is shot forth. Generally, the melee power is slightly less than the ranged power.
Ancient Power: The divine might of the ancient Vala still lingers within this weapon. The enemy's blood has the potential to stimulate and trigger this mighty divine force. When attacking, there is a chance to gain a special effect of +15 to all attributes (Melee state) / Or inflict a special effect of -15 to all enemy attributes (Ranged state).
Ancient Power can stack up to three times, lasting for 30 minutes.
Doom of the Dragon: The mournful shrieks of the great dragon Smaug swirl around the Black Arrow, directly affecting the opponent. When your opponent is a non-dragon type, their defense is reduced by 20%. When your opponent is a dragon type, your attack power is increased by 50% due to the enemy's rage.
This effect is only available once you meet the Advanced Equipment Condition.
Capturing Weakness: Once you enter combat, the Black Arrow's spirit begins to analyze and pinpoint the enemy's weakness at all times, enhancing its effect as time passes.
After thirty seconds in combat, the first enhancement is gained: your critical hit damage increases from the default 2x multiplier to 2.5x. After ninety seconds in combat, the second enhancement is gained: your critical hit damage becomes 3x. After four minutes in combat, the third enhancement is gained: your critical hit damage becomes 3.5x. After ten minutes in combat, the fourth enhancement is gained: your critical hit damage becomes 4x! After half an hour in combat, the final enhancement is gained: your critical hit damage becomes 5x!
Note: The Black Arrow must be equipped to gain this enhancement effect; placing it in your private space will prevent acquisition. This effect must be 100% mastered before the weapon gains it.
Wrath of the Vala (Active Ability)
Mobilize the divine power of the ancient Vala to unleash an astonishing double strike. The first arrow fired is the physical body of the Black Arrow. Upon impact, the enemy suffers massive damage and is Silenced. All passive/active abilities are temporarily nullified, and the enemy is Stunned for three seconds.
The second arrow fired is the Artifact Spirit of the Black Arrow, dealing five times the damage of the first arrow. If the enemy's remaining Health Points are determined to be below 20% after being hit, they are instantly killed.
Cooldown: 24 hours. The silence inflicted on the enemy lasts for twenty-four hours or until removed by the Black Arrow's wielder.
Note: The Black Arrow must be in ranged attack mode to gain this enhancement effect; placing it in your private space will prevent acquisition. This effect must be 100% mastered before the weapon gains it.
Warning: As the Black Arrow's Artifact Spirit is currently hostile, you do not yet have permission to use this equipment; you only possess ownership. You must fight and conquer the Artifact Spirit within the Black Arrow before you can enter into a soul contract and utilize it.
Note: You must collect all relevant materials before you can activate the teleportation array to battle the Spirit. There, you must face the Spirit alone, and failure in the challenge carries a risk to your life.
Looking at this highly detailed intelligence and data, Fang Senyan finally understood that although the gap between Dark Gold grade and Legendary equipment was vast, it still did not compare to the immense chasm between Legendary and Divine Artifact quality! There is a saying: Divine Artifacts belong only to the worthy. Specifically applied to the rules of the Nightmare World, it means that at the Divine Artifact tier, equipment gains a dual choice: one selects powerful equipment, but powerful equipment simultaneously selects its master!
This is the greatest difference between Divine Artifacts and Legendary equipment.
Clutching the Black Arrow in his palm, Fang Senyan felt as if he were grasping a searing hot snake! Scalding, burning, and filled with a fiercely stubborn power. Everyone must have felt the sensation of holding a struggling fresh fish; the Black Arrow's writhing was just like that, but ten times more obstinate.
However, when the g-point quietly transformed and greedily enveloped the Black Arrow with its silvery metal tentacles, the Black Arrow instantly ceased its thrashing. It was as if an illusion had been created; the weapon abruptly shrank by one-tenth, and then a puff of smoke emerged from the g-point's silver tentacles, which instantly retracted.
Both sides quieted down, but their posture clearly communicated the sentiment: this is a long game. In its capacity as a top-tier Legendary item, the g-point still couldn't devour a Divine Artifact. Yet, the Divine Artifact clearly feared this terrifying metallic life form capable of assimilating everything, because the g-point only needed to become slightly stronger to treat it mercilessly as food.
At this point, the remaining structure of the White Tower, battered by the furious hammering of several monstrous Orcs, could no longer hold and emitted a deep groan before collapsing entirely! Amidst the rising dust and smoke, this iconic structure of the continental fortress Minas Tirith finally fell.
In that instant, although many cheered wildly, and numerous Contractors even knelt down, covering their faces with their hands and weeping loudly, tears flowing joyfully between their fingers.
The sunlight finally tore through the clouds and streamed down. The Orcs and Olog-hai retreated to shaded areas, though it was meaningless now. Fang Senyan stood atop the city, overlooking the devastated Pelennor Fields, the ruins, and the black smoke rising from the city. A sudden feeling of 'ten thousand bones withered for one person's achievement' washed over him.
He was, after all, only a twenty-six-year-old youth; though his mind was mature, he couldn't entirely escape a sense of desolation.
Gazing toward the distant sunlight and the smoke billowing from Mount Doom, faintly visible through the clouds, Fang Senyan received the long-overdue notification:
“Golden Main Quest: Nation Destruction successfully completed.”
“You have successfully destroyed the White Tower, and the entire Human Alliance army has been annihilated. Member casualties in the Fellowship of the Ring exceeded 50%.”
“Quest Completion Rating: Basically Excellent (Do not be surprised; although you performed very well, the excessive casualties among the Dark Faction's armies were the final negative factor affecting this rating).”
“Quest Description: You annihilated all defenders while destroying the White Tower. Very well done.”
“Hint: Your team level is insufficient, so your Silver Team Leader status cannot influence the reward outcome.”
“Your Merit Points increased by 40 + 3 points (Legendary Status extra +3).”
“You obtained three hundred thousand Universal Points.”
“You obtained seventy Potential Points.”
“You successfully completed the Golden Main Quest! Team Level +1!!”
“Public Reward A: Your total attributes receive an additional +15 points +3 points (Legendary Status extra reward).”
“Description: This increase is directly added to attribute scores and does not require allocation.”
“Public Reward B: Certificate of Interstellar Journey (One-time consumable item).”
“Description: Upon using this item, you cannot be attacked by Contractors (broadly defined, including Colonizers, etc.) during your remaining time in this world, nor can you attack other Contractors.”
“Public Reward C: Exemption Authorization (This item can exempt penalties for quests of difficulty B or below three times, and for quests of difficulty A or below once. It cannot exempt penalties for higher-difficulty quests).”
“Description: Using this item will waive the penalties for mission failure. However, you must also forgo mission rewards. Please use this item before the mission penalty arrives.”
“Public Reward D: Horn of Sauron.”
“Description: Blow it, and the mighty Dark Lord will use his divine power to send his subordinates across the vast time-space tunnel to fight for you. You will gain a small squad (eleven individuals), which includes one Uruk, five Orc Arsonists, four Orc Warriors, and one Orc Shaman. They will be protected by Sauron's divine power and will not die in battle; they will return to the Lord of the Rings world after entering a near-death state or after twenty-four hours.”
“Hint: Each time you blow the Horn of Sauron, you must infuse it with dark energy. There are two ways to infuse dark energy: slaughtering two hundred souls or returning to the Space to recharge.”
Looking at this series of prompts, all the Contractors gasped in astonishment. Such generous rewards were far beyond their expectations. What followed was the main event that made everyone's blood boil:
“Based on your contributions in this campaign, you will receive varying amounts of Golden Universal Points, which can be used to purchase the special rewards for the following Golden Main Quest! After leaving this world, any remaining Golden Universal Points will disappear, whether spent or not. Golden Universal Points are tradable. Your previously accumulated Contribution Points will be converted into Golden Universal Points at a certain ratio.”
“Contractor No. 1018, your performance in this campaign is valued at one hundred and thirty-three Golden Universal Points. Do you wish to exchange your remaining Contribution Points?”
Yes!
“Contractor No. 1018, you currently possess one hundred and ninety-four Golden Universal Points. Please select the equipment/items you desire from the special rewards of the Golden Main Quest below. Please choose carefully, as most of the equipment/items appearing here are only available as rewards for Golden Main Quests. Due to the massive database information being accessed, please wait patiently for data input……..”
“Estimated loading time is seventeen minutes and thirty-one seconds. Please wait patiently; you can sit down, drink some wine, bandage your wounds, or relax. This area is completely safe now.”
At this time, the Ace Team naturally gathered around Fang Senyan, proactively pooling their Golden Universal Points, which would expire soon. The Ace Team was now completely unified; even the once unruly Aziz had rapidly integrated into the group through the shared experiences of blood, fire, death, and survival, as if he had always been a member.
Of course, at this moment, the Contractors were chattering like a bustling marketplace, everyone eager to acquire more Golden Universal Points. After all, the displayed equipment/items made it clear that the only way to obtain them was through drawing lots after completing a Golden Main Quest. These items were, at minimum, super-tier (meaning Dark Gold equipment capable of challenging some Legendary equipment). (To be continued.
