"MCDH's 'Let the Bullets Fly' should have signaled an aim for ten seconds," Rho Stone mused, a note of confusion in his voice. "San Zai, didn't you receive the notification?"
San Zai sighed, offering his explanation: "The rest of the summoners must first control a summoned creature to kill, then command it to pounce and strike the opponent's throat, heart, or nether regions. However, Kurutgo is a creature of high intellect with strong autonomy. Nearly all my commands to it are broad and direct. I simply tell it: 'Take that one out,' and how it achieves that is left entirely to Kurutgo's discretion."
"So, it’s entirely plausible that it chose not to inform me about the threat from MCDH—you know, Kurutgo’s perception isn't particularly acute; it couldn't fully grasp how sharp that strike from MCDH was. Perhaps it was the arrogance of a superior being, deeming the threat unworthy of notice, or perhaps it was simply insubordinate, wanting to test the limits of the other party… Sigh."
Hearing San Zai’s words, Fang Senyan and the others finally realized that every household has its own difficult scripture to recite. Summoners appear glamorous, never having to charge into the fray themselves, but contemplating how to properly manage these demanding summoned entities would surely give anyone a massive headache.
Just then, the Dark side's contractors also noticed the stir coming from Minas Tirith. Whether it was Jax, Bo Xiwen, or Lakshiri, all were inwardly startled. Though greedy, they absolutely understood Gasmor’s importance and knew he could not be lost! ---At least on this front, the interests of all Dark side contractors were aligned.
Thus, both sides immediately gritted their teeth and split their forces into two waves, attacking the contractors emerging from Minas Tirith from the left and right, resembling the massive pincers of a giant crab clamping down hard. The contractors allied with Minas Tirith immediately countered, leveraging their long-range advantage. A fierce engagement erupted, making for quite a spectacle.
Fang Senyan glanced at Rho Stone and smiled: "Our chance has arrived."
Rho Stone hesitated momentarily: "If you don't make a move, it might be difficult."
Fang Senyan shrugged: "Of course, that’s impossible. How could such a grand spectacle proceed without my viruses making an appearance? However, whether I can deploy all my trump cards depends on whether they have the capability to handle it."
The two exchanged pleasantries as they walked forward, side by side, leaving their teammates behind them. Their leisurely pace suggested two old friends taking a digestive stroll by a quiet, scenic lake after dinner! Yet, they were on a battlefield fraught with peril, about to face the elite assembled from several teams.
However, the opposing Human Alliance team paid little attention to these two—which was entirely normal. In their eyes, these two '2Bs' lacked even the qualification to draw fire. Their focus was solely on the Blue Light team and the twenty-plus contractors from the Maritime Alliance attacking from the left and right flanks.
Although the Human Alliance team was numerically superior (actually three times their opponents), they clearly understood that the contractors of the Dark Alliance were far superior to them in terms of equipment refinement and personal quality. Their only real advantage was sheer numbers.
Because the Human Alliance had also purchased a large contingent of human infantry to serve as cannon fodder, their numerical advantage was exceptionally pronounced... so much so that from a distance, the charge of those twenty-odd contractors from the Blue Light team and the Maritime Alliance looked like an egg hitting a rock, while Fang Senyan and Rho Stone’s actions seemed nothing more than moths flying into a flame!
Suddenly, the Human Alliance side opened fire. Their targeting was clearly systematic; they immediately focused on several figures who appeared to be leaders. The Human Alliance excelled in long-range combat, and after this initial volley, even though their targets had anticipated the attack and deployed Honor Potions, two were instantly killed, and two more entered a near-death state, being teleported away by team abilities.
But right at that moment, Rho Stone and Fang Senyan suddenly accelerated!
Fang Senyan surged forward, with Rho Stone close behind!
Even though speed wasn't their greatest asset, they were still immensely powerful Awakeners, and their pace was certainly not slow. In a mere few seconds, they breached the two-hundred-meter mark, instantly becoming the undeniable focus of the battlefield.
Though the snipers on the Human Alliance side had just fired and were on cooldown, at least half of them possessed the ability for sustained fire, and they immediately focused their fire on Fang Senyan, who was leading the charge.
However, weapons with high rates of fire often have a drawback: their damage output tends to be unsatisfactory, which they compensate for with firing speed. But given Fang Senyan's Talents and Attributes, coupled with the 40% damage reduction applied to attacks against him by contractors, most of the opponents were a tier below him, and a quarter of them were even still Scavengers!
Therefore, although smoke billowed and gunfire erupted continuously in Fang Senyan's wake, the attacking contractors soon let out cries of alarm.
"I can't view the combat logs!! My Perception is being suppressed by him!"
"It looks like my attacks are having absolutely no effect on him!"
"We've encountered their top-tier, high-rank MT! Does he have a shield that absorbs attacks? My aimed shots are useless against him."
"Status effects last less than a third of their normal duration on him."
"I just received a notification—the target is immune to my poison darts!"
"..."
Even so, Fang Senyan lasted no more than ten seconds under the barrage before deploying an Honor Potion! Restoring his health to full. Against such terrifying focused fire, his endurance was already astonishing to many, especially considering he wasn't even using a shield. However, to successfully mislead observers, Fang Senyan used the Honor Potion when his health dropped to one-third, rather than the conventional one-fifth.
Yet, in those less than ten seconds, Fang Senyan had successfully covered Rho Stone’s advance to within a hundred meters! Both men leaped forward simultaneously, rolled upon landing, and then Fang Senyan’s hands flowed with a mercury-like liquid, transforming into a pair of massive mechanical gauntlets spewing black smoke. With an engine roar, Fang Senyan seized Rho Stone and hurled him toward the enemy.
This move completely surprised everyone, simply because the spot where Rho Stone was launched was still a full fifty to sixty meters away from the enemy ranks! Many sharp-eyed individuals knew that abilities used for closing distances rarely covered more than forty meters instantly. They couldn't understand the action—was the goal to get Rho Stone closer quickly? But what could he accomplish alone?
Rho Stone landed about twenty meters from the enemy mixed regiment, executing a perfect front flip to settle steadily on the ground, immediately crouching low. The battle boots on his feet suddenly flashed a dazzling dark gold. Immediately, the rock beneath Rho Stone's feet cracked, and he launched himself upward, displaying astonishing jumping ability, soaring a full thirty meters in an instant, like a human cannonball slamming into the core of the mixed regiment!!
This was the power of Rho Stone's Dark Gold Boots: Frog Leap!
These Dark Gold Boots were loot Fang Senyan acquired after killing ten opponents in the 2012 Doomsday World. They not only provided a significant boost with +4 to all attributes but also came with the astonishing effect of reducing skill cooldowns by 25% and skill costs by 25%. After checking, this effect also applied to vitality consumption.
The active ability of these Dark Gold Boots, Frog Leap, granted the wearer incredible vertical thrust instantly, allowing leaps of 5 to 30 meters. Upon landing, it created a shockwave centered on the wearer, stunning nearby enemies!
Rho Stone's landing spot was deep within the heart of the mixed force. The moment his feet touched the ground, violent, continuous explosions radiated outward from that point, booming across an area spanning several hundred square meters. All enemies above felt the earth shake and tremble; stability was lost. Under such conditions, let alone attacking, simply maintaining balance was immensely difficult.
The members of the Blue Light team and the Maritime Alliance were not fools. Though they harbored ulterior motives, when joining forces against contractors from another space faction, their interests were unified. Seeing that Fang Senyan and Rho Stone had already thrown the opposing side into chaos, there was no reason to hesitate—now was the time to rush in and strike hard! They charged forward at full speed.
As most of the Mixed Alliance was just recovering from the effects of the Dark Gold Boots' inherent ability, Rho Stone immediately activated "Heart-Rending Scream," sending invisible sonic waves spreading in all directions.
The only drawback of the Heart-Rending Scream ability was its low priority. However, it had already undergone a priority enhancement once, and furthermore, the contractor tiers within the Mixed Team were generally lower. Consequently, at least eighty percent of those hit were affected. The Mixed Team instantly became as chaotic as water in a scorching pan, thoroughly churned into a mess!
No matter their state of confusion, their first action was naturally to target Rho Stone and open fire!
However, this reaction was entirely within Fang Senyan's expectations. Fang Senyan's survival marker: Protection, had already been affixed to Rho Stone immediately.
The few seconds Rho Stone was most vulnerable were just now. Once he weathered those critical moments, the reinforcements outside would arrive to coordinate an inside-out assault. Even if the enemy had been organized, they certainly couldn't maintain a unified attack target, and their offensive intensity would inevitably be drastically weakened.
