As time wore on, stepping out of the private rooms anywhere within the entire space, one could hear a dull heartbeat like a war drum, fiercely striking everyone’s chest, as if their very organs were resonating in excitement, their blood surging incessantly!
Inside the exclusive quarters for high-ranking officers like Fang Senyan, they could even view on screen the vessel traversing the boundless, vast expanse. All around were bizarre and grotesque sights, with seemingly endless streams of light shooting through. The vessel extended many long, massive tentacles, wedging themselves like wedges into the terrifying spatial turbulence, dragging the enormous hull forward with the exertion of a mountain climb.
It could be seen that the organic tissues on the surface of Noah C Space were gradually evaporating under the scouring of the spatial turbulence, exposing the internal steel structure. At this point, the Space would rotate the unprotected internal steel structure inwards like a Rubik’s Cube, allowing the organic tissues to slowly regrow.
Fang Senyan watched the Space struggling and laboriously climbing through the turbulence of time, and couldn't help but feel a sense of profound emotion. Such pain, almost akin to judicial flaying, seemed to be endured by the Space ceaselessly. No wonder it treated life with such coldness.
Perhaps in its worldview, all life was like flesh and blood that could infinitely grow on the surface of a body; once corroded by the poison of time, it would simply be reborn and grow back, much like the seedlings in people's minds—cut down one crop, and another could immediately sprout again.
"Come on," Fang Senyan narrowed his eyes slightly, sighing as if trying to penetrate the future: "The bloodshed of this battle has already thickened to the point of being ineffable!"
The entire Nightmare Space was already permeated with a crimson mist, as if wisps of bloody scent were churning in the air, inhaled and exhaled by the Contractors, lending a doubled sharpness.
The original Space Plaza was now encircled by a layer of powerful, invisible force field, preventing Contractors from approaching—this was for their safety. In the center of this force field protection zone, a scarlet point first appeared. This point was mysterious and profound, as if containing the infinite ultimate truths of the Space, then slowly extending outwards in two directions, forming a line about a foot long.
The long line rapidly extended into three dimensions.
From point to line was a transition from one dimension to two dimensions, and from line to surface was a transition from two dimensions to three dimensions.
Once the three-dimensional space formed, the spacetime ripples scattering out were ferociously intense, but to Fang Senyan gazing from a distance, there was a sense of familiarity. Thinking carefully, one could recognize it as the light emanating from the sharp edge of the Demon Sword Apophis.
Soon, a massive blood-red portal materialized, though it churned with abundant ripples, still conveying a very dangerous feeling, as if it would swallow anyone who stepped in without spitting out even a single bone. At this moment, streams of light shot out from the Space, calming and neutralizing the terrifying fluctuations drifting around.
The blood-red glow illuminated the faces of all the surrounding Contractors. Though they were all slightly obscured, the gaze of every person was solemn, and different colored lights emanated from the bodies belonging to different Contractors.
That was the light of the Team.
The color of a Team's light was related to the Team's rank, but the brightness of the Team's light was related to the Team's level.
At this moment, a Team bathed entirely in a watery-blue glow suddenly emerged. Their appearance was immediately attention-grabbing; the aqueous sheen on their bodies was as if they had been plated—pure and intense, making one feel as if gazing at a cloudless sky or staring into the deepest ocean.
This was certainly no longer a time for hiding one's light.
Seeing this water-blue Team, it was clear they were adept at self-preservation, and their Team skills must lean towards healing. Other Teams paled in comparison, truly drawing sidelong glances!
The emergence of this water-blue glowing Team instantly drew the gaze of nearly everyone. Fang Senyan, who was about to display his Silver Team strength and stop lying low, suddenly felt a pressing threat. He instantly realized the surrounding invisible force field had completely vanished, and the portal showed a decidedly unstable state. Taking a closer look, the allotted passage time was only one hundred and fifty seconds, so everyone filed in one after another, crowding through.
"Forget it, there will be plenty of chances to show off," Fang Senyan sighed.
By this time, Fang Senyan's Team had expanded to six members: Fang Senyan, Reef, Zi, San Zai, Aldaris, and Ronnie. But this was merely superficial. Fang Senyan could summon Old Charlie and Ramtas, and he had also specifically re-tuned Ramtas to account for the dual-wielding of sword and staff environment common to the Mages of the Ring world, significantly strengthening his protection against cold weapons.
Furthermore, if Mr. Krut’s combat power was directly equivalent to three catapults, surely no one would disagree, and if this fellow could get close to a city wall, the resulting damage would be even more exaggerated.
"Depart!"
"Teleport, Middle-earth World Battlefield!"
"Entering battlefield planet..."
"Compiling data..."
"Allocating factions..."
"Spacetime node locked."
"Beginning assimilation of characters with this world..."
"Entering world..."
The white city protected its citizens; desire and ambition were about to collide here with fierce sparks. The howls of Orcs echoed across the firmament, and the swords of the Gondorians flashed with cold light. Time was the key to victory; the victor was justice, the vanquished was evil. Fight for the beliefs in your hearts!
As they stepped through the blood-red light gate, everyone felt a dizzying sensation. Immediately following was complete darkness. When their vision returned, they saw a vast and desolate landscape where the pale gray clouds were as dense as mountains, so much so that the distance between the sky and the ground appeared extremely short.
They stood on a barbaric-looking altar. The stone used to build it was coarse, but every block was immense, at least the size of a house. An altar assembled from such stones could hardly be considered refined; the stones bore visible chisel marks and dark brown scars, some several yards across, others the size of washbasins, all exuding a scent of gore.
In front of the altar was a basin-sized depression, sized for an Uruk-hai, naturally. This basin was filled with chunks of red flesh; upon closer inspection, they were hearts—one by one. Some hearts were withered, blackened, and shriveled like fruit left for three months and seven days; others were still fresh, occasionally twitching and squeezing residual blood from their vessels.
An Orcish priest, seeing the appearance of Fang Senyan and the others, showed an expression of immense delight, revealing his blackened, crisscrossed teeth, waving the twisted wooden staff in his hand excitedly, making gurgling noises in his throat.
It appeared that Fang Senyan and his group were currently serving as summoned reinforcements from another plane.
Fang Senyan stood on the altar, surveying his surroundings. He noticed the area was encircled by fertile plains covered in withered yellow grasslands and cultivated fields. Next to the altar was a field planted with "Longbottom Leaf pipe-weed." As far as the eye could see, many Orcs were digging in potato patches, eating half-ripened vegetables like rush-weed and wild chervil directly without brushing off the dirt. The original owners of these farmlands had either met misfortune or fled.
Only the onion patch, due to its strange odor, had escaped being ravaged by these creatures, although occasionally a bold one would approach, only to suffer an extra heavy blow to its sensitive sense of smell from the sharp scent of raw onion.
Fang Senyan's gaze drifted into the distance again. A mighty river curved in a great arc, enclosing the area—this was the Anduin River, stretching 1388 miles. The fertile plain carved out by its flow was known as the Parth. The carrots and potatoes produced on this plain were famous throughout Middle-earth, much like the tobacco of the Shire or the salmon sandwiches of The Prancing Pony.
On the opposite bank of the long river stood a steep and formidable mountain range—the Mountains of Ephel Dúath. A magnificent, classic mountain city was built leaning against the slopes: this was the objective of Fang Senyan's battle: Minas Tirith, the capital of the entire Kingdom of Gondor. Because the rock of this mountain range was white, the primary color tone of Minas Tirith was also white, hence it was also called the White City.
Zi stood beside Fang Senyan, observing the four immense black square formations arrayed on the plain before Minas Tirith—this was the terrifying sheer number of the Orc and Uruk legions. Faced with this human wave advantage, even the mountains seemed to lose some of their luster.
The Orc army far surpassed the defenders in both numbers and troop quality. Frankly, it was a miracle that Minas Tirith had not yet fallen.
Seeing all this, Zi suddenly asked Fang Senyan: "If you summoned Fogsong now, who would she help?"
Fang Senyan smiled: "Of course she'd help me, but she probably wouldn't fight humans, only deal with other Contractors on my behalf."
At this moment, more than ten Contractors stepped out of the rear altar portal. Since the passage time was only one hundred and fifty seconds, the Contractors entered with remarkable speed. Just as Fang Senyan was preparing to move to the central area to check exactly what benefits he had acquired, a figure walked over from a distance. Their gazes met accidentally in the air and immediately stuck together like magnets, unable to separate!
"It's you?" Fang Senyan said lightly.
"It's you!!" the other person's voice suddenly sharpened! And it was filled with venomous hatred!!
