The Zhenqi vibrated simultaneously. The Master slightly lifted his chin, gazing at the endless projection. "I truly didn't expect this. You grasped it on your own. At your age, I hadn't yet comprehended the method of Zhenqi Vibration. In this regard, you surpass me."
"You," Qin Fen stared blankly at the Master, a faint, self-mocking smile touching the corners of his mouth. The other party was reputed to be a master on the level of a Black Hole. While this Zhenqi Vibration might be unattainable for others, for a powerhouse who claimed to have researched martial arts theory to its absolute depth, perhaps it amounted to nothing significant.
"Heh heh," the Master waved his hand towards Qin Fen. "Originally, I planned to wait until your Zhenqi control intensity improved further before teaching you. I didn't anticipate you would reach this realization first, and even grope out and research a method of control."
"Master," Qin Fen bowed slightly, holding the posture of a disciple, and nodded. "Please explain it again. I feel that I have only touched the very first threshold of this Zhenqi Vibration. I am still a great distance from truly understanding it."
A look of gratified smiles flickered across the Master's face. With a mere wave, a massive projection screen materialized from the darkness, displaying the complete meridian system of a human body floating in the void. The Zhenqi, visible to the naked eye, was distributed quietly in every corner of the meridians.
"Kid, this is the record of the Zhenqi Vibration within your body," the Master gestured again. The projection screen expanded rapidly, and the final, minute meridian channel was larger than Qin Fen's original body. "Take a good look."
Qin Fen’s eyes widened, fixed on the throbbing of the Zhenqi in the screen. For others, observing the Zhenqi within the meridians with such clarity was almost impossible.
Of course, someone of Song Wendong's strength—a legendary Martial God who could achieve complete inner sight—could likely observe with such meticulous detail.
In a tiny meridian channel, at a one-to-one scale, the Zhenqi distribution Qin Fen saw appeared remarkably even. As he zoomed in continuously, Qin Fen's expression gradually grew grim; the supposedly even Zhenqi distribution now appeared drastically unbalanced, like mountains rising and falling unevenly.
This level of Zhenqi allocation? Qin Fen’s eyes narrowed slightly. This is my actual distribution? So crude?
Qin Fen sucked in a sharp breath. To execute a Zhenqi Vibration with this standard of distribution, and not be violently shaken to death?
Thump-thump.
The Zhenqi within the meridian swelled suddenly, then rapidly returned to calm, resembling the sudden, violent beat of a heart.
Qin Fen’s somber face darkened further. Was that vibration truly mine? The perfect, simultaneous vibration… it appeared utterly chaotic and unsynchronized, front to back.
"How does it feel?" the Master watched Qin Fen with a smile.
"This..." Qin Fen contorted his face into a bitter smile. "It's fortunate I didn't worsen my internal injuries from the shaking."
"It is indeed a bit fortunate," the Master nodded. "Your vibration just barely scraped past the most basic qualifying line. Once it crosses that line, instead of harming your body, it can begin to help your recovery."
"Oh~" Qin Fen lightly patted his chest, feeling a little more assured.
The ways of Ancient Martial Arts were inherently dangerous. A small mistake could lead to Zou Huo Ru Mo (going berserk), and incidents of incontinence or complete paralysis were not uncommon.
Zhenqi Vibration, something entirely self-discovered and created, was even more perilous within the realm of Ancient Martial Arts. Countless masters in the martial path had suffered ruined cultivation, or even lingering, strange internal ailments, from a single lapse of attention while exploring and creating.
Legend had it that a very famous martial master made a slight error during practice, resulting in the gradual atrophy and eventual disappearance of his male organ.
"The Vibration of Zhenqi," the Master spoke slowly. Several more projection screens appeared in the sky, each showing the meridian system of a body undergoing Zhenqi Vibration. "It demands extremely rigorous control. While it certainly accelerates one's growth in cultivation, it simultaneously requires an even higher level of control."
Qin Fen nodded slowly. His previous line of thought hadn't been wrong. Dragon-Elephant Prajna Gong could indeed enhance strength through vibration; that risky experiment was not flawed—it was merely the control that was lacking.
"However," the Master smiled kindly, "this is merely the most rudimentary level of Zhenqi Vibration."
Rudimentary? Qin Fen nearly choked, staring blankly at the Master. Still the initial stage? Then what constituted the advanced level?
"More advanced than this initial level is this," the Master pointed to a projection in the sky. "A method superior to yours."
"The frequency of these vibrations," Qin Fen stared blankly at the figure in the air. The vibrating Zhenqi in the meridians was not undergoing a completely uniform oscillation. Rather, the vibration was sometimes fast, and sometimes slow.
Continuing to watch, Qin Fen observed that these different rates of vibration combined to form a unique, cyclical oscillating pattern.
"Precisely. This is called the Frequency Cycle Vibration Method," the Master said, and the projection screen in the sky vanished. "This method accelerates the raising of power much more rapidly."
Qin Fen nodded slightly. A constant mode of operation required a far simpler degree of control than this method involving changing frequencies assembled into a cyclical vibration.
"If you achieve this stage," the Master snapped his fingers, and another massive projection reappeared in the sky, "that is still not the focus or the limit of Zhenqi Vibration. This is the true pinnacle."
"This...?" Qin Fen leaned closer. In the meridians of the figure, the Zhenqi in several major channels vibrated at different frequencies.
They were clearly different frequencies, yet there was an almost imperceptible resonance between them, mutually stimulating an extraordinary surge in growth.
"These are the different vibrations of the main meridians," the Master gestured again, and the projection screen of the human meridian system changed to a faceless figure. "Let us view the slow-motion replay."
In the display, for every differing Zhenqi vibration in the main meridians, Qin Fen noticed subtle changes occurring in the muscles, the heart, and even the bones of that body.
These were minute changes. If the vibration speed hadn't been dramatically slowed down, and the body magnified hundreds of times, these alterations would have been completely invisible.
"Correct. At this point, it's not just the acceleration of Zhenqi growth," the Master pointed to the slowly changing muscle cells. "When one reaches this stage, the vibration of Zhenqi can rapidly promote the evolution of the body, changing its very quality. A martial artist truly cultivates not just Zhenqi, but also their own physical self. This is truly a great leap forward."
Qin Fen stared, unblinking, at the enormous screen. He hadn't expected the threshold he stumbled upon blindly to conceal such a vast secret.
That martial arts practice could alter one's physique and promote a physical evolution was no secret in the Federation for a long time. As long as one practiced martial arts, their body would differ from that of an ordinary person—it was already an incredible physical change and evolution.
Qin Fen’s mouth fell open unconsciously. He hadn't realized the physical transformation brought about by martial arts was merely the most basic alteration, far less swift and effective than this meridian vibration.
"Of course, the fact that practicing martial arts can alter physique is true, but that is very fundamental. However," the Master’s eyes flashed with sharp brilliance, the gentle scholarly air instantly replaced by soaring excitement, "what a martial artist pursues is not this simple, foundational stuff. One should pursue the true limit of the body, and then break through it."
A fierce aura erupted. Qin Fen felt a sudden constriction in his chest. This was not Zhenqi, but merely the suppression of aura—a pressure vaster than the combined might of the Five Great Young Generals, as if an actual tsunami were bearing down.
The Master swayed slightly. The excitement in his eyes vanished instantly, returning him to his usual mild, scholarly appearance, his cheeks faintly flushed. "My apologies. I became a bit too enthusiastic just now."
"Not at all," Qin Fen repeatedly shook his head. "Master, you are showing me what a true expert is."
"Expert?" The Master's lips curled in slight self-mockery. "Actually, at this stage, I cannot completely instruct you anymore."
"I understand," Qin Fen nodded gently. "Master, your level is too high. Sometimes an unintentional wrong word might have a counterproductive effect, like forcing growth prematurely. Instead, my instructors—while not as powerful as you—are better suited for the different stages I am currently in."
The Master nodded slowly, his eyes once again radiating appreciation. "Kid, you are sharp. Many people assume that having the world's strongest master will automatically make them powerful experts. In reality, what is suitable is best."
Qin Fen recalled a sentence from Squad Leader Hao: "You think we don't use our connections to find stronger martial artists to teach you? If Guo Jing had been taught by Hong Qigong from the start, he would have ended up as a third-rate disciple long ago. He should be grateful for the guidance of the Seven Freaks of Jiangnan and Ma Yu."
Guo Jing? Hong Qigong? The Seven Freaks of Jiangnan? Ma Yu? Qin Fen had no idea who these people were. He assumed they must also be masters of varying degrees?
Looking up at the two projection screens that had been opened behind him, Qin Fen frowned slightly. If that stage of vibration wasn't the absolute peak, then what did the next stage entail?
"If you achieve that previous realm, then what you face next is the ultimate realm," the Master pointed to the next projection screen. "Every meridian vibrates differently."
Qin Fen stared quietly at the enormous screen. As each meridian vibrated at its own distinct frequency, the changes in the muscles and bones across the body of the figure manifested yet another configuration.
"Every part of the human body actually requires a different Zhenqi vibration," the Master spoke slowly. "If you only grasped the threshold vibration, it would still improve the body's bones and muscles, just with lesser effect. As you gain control over the vibration, applying it to corresponding, different areas is the most effective way to stimulate improvement."
"Total control?" Qin Fen felt unable to smile. "How immense must the control required for that be?"
The Master smiled without speaking. Sometimes, revealing everything required for all stages at once does not yield a good result; instead, it can cause severe negative consequences.
For instance, the sheer magnitude of the gap can ignite a sense of powerlessness in one's heart, leading to lethargy.
"Then what about this final screen?" Qin Fen stared with intense interest at the last unopened projection screen. "If the previous one was the ultimate goal of vibration, what is the significance of this next one?"
