They had already given their all! Fearing they might falter or lose face, the Supreme Hawk King felt he had been at a disadvantage in the sonic wave contest just now. If he couldn't gain an edge in his strongest domain, how could he possibly contend with Lei Wubei for prestige?
And Lei Wubei, having come specifically to stand up for his disciple, was even more determined not to show weakness. He forced his qi upwards to pursue Ying Boke, refusing to lag behind even slightly!
As a result, although Jun Moxie’s Yin-Yang Escape technique was truly divine and astonishingly powerful, his cultivation was still too shallow. He could not fully grasp the profound mysteries of the Yin-Yang Escape, so how could he compare to these two supreme figures?
Truthfully, for someone of his age and cultivation level to even keep pace with these two was news that, if spread, would shock the world.
The two figures, one ahead and one behind, flashed past like fleeting light or meteors from beyond the heavens. They darted through buildings, borrowed momentum from eaves, and in a mere blur, they had already sped out of Tianxiang City, vanishing into the vast expanse.
A city of a million souls occupied an immense area, yet it took them mere breaths to travel from the city center to flying out of the gates! Jun Moxie estimated that even his Yang fighter jets from his previous life might not keep up with such velocity.
Seeing the two figures ahead disappear from his line of sight, the great Master Jun felt a pang of frustration. This seemed to be the first time since being reborn that he had actually lost track of someone. He looked up again and couldn't help but give a wry smile.
What fate is this, damn it! This afternoon I just pulled myself out of a major mess right here, and now, in the dead of night, I’m being drawn back to this very spot!
Does this place have particularly good feng shui or something?
Jun Moxie glanced left and right, confirming his inference.
The location was isolated in the wilderness, desolate and uninhabited in all directions, with dense woods—truly an ideal spot for robbery and murder!
Perched on a treetop, the night wind whipped around him, clearing his mind and bringing a great sense of satisfaction. A surge of heroic spirit welled up, almost compelling him to roar out: Chuānlín èn càn hǎi, kuà ā liáo xuě ò xīn yuán dūn yíng càn, qì chōng ēn ēn xīn bā xiāo xuān xuān jùn xuān xuān...
However, that resounding, high-pitched song never actually erupted. Because at that moment, two supremely powerful auras suddenly burst forth from within the dense woods, surging like a tidal wave to engulf the entire forest!
He had thought those two old fogeys were long gone. Turns out they had started fighting not far away. It seems this territory is favored not just by him, but by others too—truly a great place!
He watched as countless large trees began to lean away from the epicenter, their trunks creaking ominously, looking as if they might snap at any moment! This nearly shook the Great Master Jun—who was full of high spirits and ready to rest and sing a few tunes—right off his perch. He cursed inwardly: These two old things have absolutely no sense of romance; don't they know combat requires artistry?!
He then silently crept deeper in. After all, it was a rare opportunity to witness a battle between Supremes!
In the heart of the forest, Ying Boke and Lei Wubei stood ten zhang apart, facing each other. The ground between them was unnaturally smooth. The trees that had once grown there had already been silently pulverized into dust by the clash of their vital energies, vanishing between heaven and earth!
The clearing now was smoother than a basketball court from his previous life!
With such skill, why don't these two old guys go repair roads! They should be sent to the remote mountains to build roads! This is far smoother and more convenient than bulldozers and steamrollers. With hands clasped behind his back and eyes wide in a deliberately imposing stance, the road was flattened. Wasting such speed would be a true shame...
Invisible, intangible fields of energy spread outwards from between the two men. As time passed, the long strands of Ying Boke's hair, which had been hanging flat down his back, began to show signs of disarray, lifting slightly backward, showing signs of fluttering in the wind. In contrast, Lei Wubei opposite him remained utterly still; not even the hem of his robes stirred.
The strength and weakness of their cultivation were immediately apparent!
"Old Hawk, your progress these years is not small!" Lei Wubei let out a cold snort. "However, though my speed might not match yours, in terms of profound arts, you are far behind! Stay humble before me!"
"Is that so? I think not!" Ying Boke suddenly sprang upwards. This leap was like a high-pressure spring being released after being compressed to its limit, his entire body shaping itself into a javelin aimed straight for the sky!
The Supreme Hawk King had already conceded the disadvantage in the contest of aura. If he continued to press the issue, he risked being completely enveloped by Lei Wubei’s aura, at which point recovery would be impossible! Thus, Ying Boke acted decisively and shot straight up into the sky! He needed to break free of Lei Wubei’s vital energy blockade before considering anything else!
It was common knowledge that Ying Boke ranked last among the Eight Supremes, and his profound qi cultivation was indeed the lowest of the eight; this was nothing surprising. If he insisted on wrestling with other Supremes in an aura contest, he wouldn't deserve the title of Supreme!
Every advantage has its corresponding weakness. The Supreme Hawk King’s strongest maneuvers had never relied on profound qi!
The height of this leap clearly surpassed Ying Boke's previous level of ability, soaring over twenty zhang straight up. His entire body was already a very blurry small black dot against the night sky!
A ghost-fire-like gleam flashed in Lei Wubei’s eyes. Without daring to slacken, using only the tip of his foot as an axis, he suddenly crouched low. His hands... the man spun rapidly like a spinning top. In an instant, a small tornado formed on the ground, swirling up an eerie gas that was almost black and shiny, sweeping up all the surrounding trees and even the grass and soil. The radius grew larger, and the tornado’s power intensified!
A sharp whistling sounded from the mid-air, piercing the eardrums with a shrill cry, falling lightning-fast. The air cracked with sonic booms—the sound of Ying Boke's body friction against the air as his speed reached its limit!
Ying Boke held his right hand forward in a claw shape, his left hand supported his right shoulder from behind. His long, black hair pointed vertically toward the firmament, perpendicular to the ground, yet the man himself was descending!
Ying Boke's entire form resembled a terrifying arrow shot during a divine battle between gods and demons, whistling down toward Lei Wubei!
"Well met!" Lei Wubei roared coldly. The ground tornado suddenly surged upwards to meet the black, agile silhouette in the air. Upon abrupt contact, a series of pop-pop-pop sounds erupted, and the two immense forces vanished instantly. Ying Boke reappeared before Lei Wubei, his twin claws transforming, striking out as if a thousand changes were occurring.
Lei Wubei let out a cruel snort, black energy coiling around his palms, meeting the attack without the slightest sign of fear. Their four hands exchanged hundreds of blows in an instant. Then, with a loud peng, Lei Wubei was sent flying backward, while Ying Boke’s mighty frame also staggered back.
This retreat separated the space between them by dozens of zhang!
The moment they pulled back, the central point where their two powers had collided suddenly produced a massive explosion with a loud boom! The residual shockwave was so powerful that even the giant tree twenty zhang away where Jun Moxie was hidden instantly snapped section by section!
What an astonishing aftershock!
The Great Killer Jun had been thoroughly enjoying the pinnacle battle between two of the eight strongest masters, comparing the top martial arts of this world against the techniques he knew from his past life. Such combat between powerhouses was immensely beneficial, even just as an observer.
He hadn't expected that just as he had figured out a maneuver, the tree concealing him would suddenly break, shattering into dozens of pieces! Jun Moxie was directly flung out by the section of the trunk he was hiding in, tumbling heavily onto the ground and rolling twice. It all happened so suddenly that he couldn't shift in time!
Although still invisible, the impact was brutal. He fell until his organs felt scrambled and stars swam before his eyes. In both his lives, this was perhaps the first time he had been so utterly humiliated. Due to the sheer surprise, he couldn't help but let out a muffled grunt, his voice extremely low.
This grunt was indeed minuscule, but to the two Supremes, it was no less than a sudden clap of thunder. Someone was eavesdropping nearby, and neither of them had noticed?!
The two men simultaneously roared, "Who?! Get out here!"
The Great Master Jun dared not show his face now. He tucked his neck in and immediately employed Wood Escape, rapidly transferring to another tree. A thought flashed through his mind: The martial contest between the two Supremes had, up to this point, roughly shown who was superior.
Although this clash had only just begun, judging by the part, it was clear that Ying Boke was temporarily no match for Lei Wubei! If the fight dragged on, he would likely suffer losses!
It was like two billionaires competing in wealth—one had ten billion, and the other had fifteen billion. In the mortal world, both amounts were enough for them to spend lavishly as they wished. But in a competition, the one with fifteen billion would ultimately prevail, as their foundation was simply deeper.
But Ying Boke was "his man" now! Could he stand by and watch him be embarrassed? If that was the case, he should cause a little trouble for them. With this thought, Jun Moxie suddenly hatched a plan. He emitted another faint, extremely subtle cold snort, filled with disdain, and then shifted again!
Two figures dropped like meteors chasing the moon right to the spot where he had made the sound, missing by not an inch!
Yet the Yin-Yang Escape was truly divine; even right under the noses of the two Supremes, he could easily remain concealed!
The two Supremes searched meticulously but found nothing, staring at each other in confusion. Both were infinitely shocked in their hearts. Someone could infiltrate so close under the watch of both of them; this person’s profound arts were certainly no less than theirs, perhaps even superior! Who was this person? And what was their motive?
That cold snort just now clearly carried a note of disdain, looking down on them! Who was so arrogant?
Ying Boke suddenly realized and cursed, "Lei Wubei, you bastard, you’re too shameless! You actually called for backup! I despise you! With your character, you still dare call yourself one of the Eight Supremes!"
"Spit out your mother's nonsense!" Lei Wubei bellowed, "Do I need backup to deal with trash like you? What a joke! It must be your backup! Ying Boke, stop playing the innocent victim! Just call him out, and I'll fight you both, one against two!"
Though they spoke with such bravado, both of them had become inwardly wary. While there was a difference in their strength, the gap was quite small. If the opponent gained a capable helper, the outcome could shift instantly. Both simultaneously formed the intention to finish the fight quickly.
