After a series of checks, Fang Senyan’s health report was submitted, and the presiding professor couldn't help but exclaim upon glancing at it: “Oh, this volunteer’s body is as robust as a bear! Is he a professional athlete?” Zi couldn't help but smile slightly: “That’s why he dares to lie here and be a lab rat.” The professor nodded in satisfaction, then persuaded Zi: “You could actually go attend to your own matters and wait for the results.
SARS appears to be a terrifying disease primarily due to its high pathogenicity, high infectivity, and the lack of a specific curative drug, with a mortality rate of only 9.3 percent.” “Therefore, compared to AIDS, Ebola, and rabies, which have fatality rates nearing 100%—diseases that people dread—SARS is far less dangerous. Few young people or adolescents with strong resistance and vitality die from SARS.
Usually, fatalities result from complications, such as respiratory distress due to pulmonary edema, subsequent failure, or multiple organ dysfunction. Given this volunteer’s current vitals, recovery to full health is almost certain.” Zi shook her head: “We can’t be that optimistic yet, Professor.
The SARS virus we are about to inject into him has mutated. In every aspect except its mode of transmission, it has been greatly amplified—both in onset time and intensity.” The professor’s expression instantly turned solemn.
He meticulously re-examined the surroundings, including the disinfection and sealing facilities, then summoned another sterile containment unit—that glass dome often seen in movies used for dissecting rodents—where all manipulations would be conducted via robotic arms installed on the unit before retrieving the virus box brought by Fang Senyan, extracting the virus, and injecting it directly into Fang Senyan’s lung area. The virus’s effect was undeniably staggering.
It was clear that Fang Senyan’s lungs suffered immediate, severe trauma, followed by vast networks of black lines spreading through the surrounding blood vessels. The pain Fang Senyan endured during this process was immense, yet he held fast without uttering a sound.
He gritted his teeth and endured, observing his tightly clenched fists and the bulging veins on his forehead. San Zai’s face was etched with worry, and though Zi maintained a calm expression, her fingernails dug deep into her own flesh as her hands clenched, yet she showed no reaction.
Amidst the extreme agony, Fang Senyan suddenly felt a warmth spreading through his consciousness. He immediately looked toward the source and realized it emanated from the string of tianzhu beads given to him by a person named Lei Luo during his Talent Upgrade.
These beads inherently contained immense Wish Power, and he couldn't fathom why they were exhibiting such an anomaly at this moment. What Fang Senyan did not know was that Tibetan Buddhism belongs to the esoteric tradition (Mizong), which emphasizes tenacious, ascetic cultivation, focusing on the concept of enduring humiliation to temper oneself against the world’s hardships.
Even ordinary devotees undertake pilgrimages spanning thousands of kilometers, prostrating one step at a time to reach sacred sites or turn prayer wheels. There is even a theory now suggesting that the origins of Yoga actually stem from a school of ascetic practice within Mizong, where the method involves twisting one’s limbs to the absolute limit to attain liberation through suffering.
Lei Luo had given Fang Senyan these tianzhu beads merely for use as a communication device, but this was only one of the beads' myriad miraculous functions. Their primary role was as a ritual implement worn by Living Buddhas during their cultivation.
Tibetan Buddhism flourished immensely in Lei Luo’s plane, so this string of tianzhu was not particularly extraordinary there. However, in this plane, these beads could be considered exceptionally rare treasures.
Normally, when a person is in extreme pain, subtle changes occur in their breathing, heart rate, endocrine system, personal magnetic field, brainwaves, and electrocardiogram. The tianzhu, imbued with vast amounts of Wish Power, acted like a radio already tuned to a fixed frequency.
Fang Senyan, whose physical constitution was already formidable, generated fluctuations under extreme duress that gradually aligned with the beads’ frequency, thus activating their other function—that of a cultivation implement! Because that touch of warmth brought Fang Senyan significant comfort, he instinctively sought to pursue it.
Via his mental impulse, he drew the tianzhu out of his storage space and quietly clasped them in his hand. Since he kept his hand subtly pressed against his side and underneath him while doing this, no one noticed, despite being closely observed by many.
Holding the string of tianzhu, the delicate warmth gradually permeated Fang Senyan’s entire body. He began to experience a peculiar sensation: regarding the pain with detachment, as if it were happening to someone else.
Following this, he could feel the indescribable agony slowly seeping into the tianzhu, which, in return, emitted an ineffable warmth, as if his entire being were enveloped in an indescribable softness and warmth, negating any need for breath or sustenance. Darkness, serenity, softness, warmth—these constituted his entire world, filled with infinite peace and joy, a tranquility so profound he felt it could last forever.
Fang Senyan was unaware that this was the extremely profound state of cultivation in Mizong: the Fetal Breathing State (Taixi Jing)! The four sensations—darkness, serenity, softness, warmth—that underpinned his entire sensory world were precisely the feelings experienced during an infant's development within the mother’s womb!
The Fetal Breathing State sounds mysterious and profound, yet most Living Buddhas can achieve it. Above the Fetal Breathing State lies the Rebirth State (Wang Sheng Jing), the highest doctrine of Tibetan Buddhism.
Achieving this state usually requires Living Buddhas to burn the final vestiges of their life force upon Nirvana at the point of death to reach that ultimate apex. If the Fetal Breathing State can revert one’s experience of life to that of the womb, then the Rebirth State can naturally allow one to experience what happens after death, re-entering the womb for reincarnation and subsequent birth—a supreme state akin to traversing the future and witnessing the world beyond!
This is why the great masters and Living Buddhas of Tibetan Buddhism can often predict the exact location of their rebirth with astonishing detail—because they have genuinely seen these things!!! Yet, the Rebirth State is truly an advanced realm.
While it generally constitutes an ascension for the soul, it places an immense burden on the physical body. Hence the saying of surviving for only one month after entering the Rebirth State, meaning one truly must prepare for rebirth soon after.
More cruelly, even after the soul has ascended to such a powerful level, it cannot escape the fierce and relentless mystery of the womb during reincarnation… The mystery of the womb! This is what colloquial terms refer to as the Soup of Forgetfulness (Meng Po Tang).
Although many Living Buddhas can slowly recall certain skills from their previous lives (like medical arts or scriptures) based on living habits after rebirth, they can never achieve a complete overlap between the former and the current life. Breaking the mystery of the womb requires the supreme state of Mizong, attainable only by lingering in the Rebirth State for an extended period: Unity of Heaven and Man (Tian Ren He Yi)!!!
This was the state of Great Freedom (Da Zizai) that Lei Luo ceaselessly sought to attain. (Note: The Fetal Breathing State, Rebirth State, and Unity of Heaven and Man are my own speculative inferences and have no connection to reality… Even Fang Senyan himself never imagined that facing the extreme pain required to elevate the ‘Airborne Disease Transmission’ aspect of the Virus Monarch talent tree to its pinnacle would lead to such intensity!
Nor did he anticipate that, under these circumstances, utilizing the power of the tianzhu ritual artifact—almost completely extinct in this world and passed down by the Living Buddha Lei Luo—he would ingeniously attain the Fetal Breathing State, a level few great monks and Living Buddhas ever reached!) In that infinite stillness, warmth, and serenity, Fang Senyan perceived light above and light below. The light above was faint, like starlight—seeming bright if ignored, yet dim if focused upon.
The light below, however, was brilliant. Fang Senyan noticed that at this moment, he could effortlessly float and sink merely by willpower, without needing his body.
Floating upward was incredibly difficult, whereas drifting downward required no effort at all. He did not know that floating upward would mean cultivating a breakthrough toward the Rebirth State, an endeavor that, considering he reached the Fetal Breathing State entirely through external aid, would be akin to inviting disaster.
Drifting downward, however, led to the Reflection State (Fan Zhao Jing), which lies beneath the Fetal Breathing State. The method for cultivating the Reflection State, in scientific terms, is quite simple: systematically clearing every fragment and trace of memory from the mind, then painstakingly tracing them backward without omitting a single detail.
As is commonly known, memories fade over time. What one did today, or how many times one masturbated, is crystal clear; yesterday is likely mostly clear, but what about a month ago?
A year ago? Cultivating the Reflection State involves this continuous backward deduction.
First, one mentally visualizes and reviews today's activities, then yesterday’s, last week’s, last month’s, last year’s—not missing a single day. Yes, when cultivated to its deepest extent, the Reflection State allows one to clearly enumerate every single event from birth up to the present moment, just like the phenomenon of 'last flicker of consciousness'—watching a lifetime movie replay in the mind, cycling through the entire process in mere seconds.
The highest level of the Reflection State is recalling the very first sight upon opening one's eyes as a fetus. If one can breakthrough further and locate memories from within the mother’s body, they have successfully broken through to the Fetal Breathing State.
Fang Senyan’s actions at this moment were equivalent to performing a retrospective rewind. He moved toward the light below and retreated into it, suddenly finding himself immersed in the memories of the moment he first opened his eyes.
Naturally, he saw—whom he had completely forgotten—his father, his mother… I am so foolish, I forgot to post again. RQ
