As soon as Fang Senyan charged into that area, layers upon layers of terrifying illusions immediately swarmed him. This was the enemy's ability, similar to that of the illusionist Franklin; it was impossible to dispel the delusion and dispel the illusion just by having a firm will, so being trapped was inevitable.
However, Fang Senyan's intention was incredibly straightforward. The enemy before him carried a massive amount of his virus! Furthermore, Fang Senyan's perception far surpassed that of his opponent. Therefore, by relying solely on the information relayed by his senses, he was certain to reach the enemy in the shortest possible time and distance.
To visualize it, this terrifying hallucination was like a labyrinth. Fang Senyan could feel the enemy's presence on the other side of the maze, meaning he could take a straight path, a shortcut. But the enemy had surely laid countless ambushes along that very path!
Upon initial contact, Fang Senyan immediately felt his health plummet drastically. This was actually quite normal; Chai Cha had been setting up here for so long. If he had allowed Fang Senyan to approach easily, truthfully, he wouldn't deserve to be called an Awakened one.
But the reason Fang Senyan dared to charge forward was, naturally, because he had his trump cards. One must remember that his current health regeneration was entirely dependent on the feedback from "Sigh of the Reaper." He had used Divine Heal once before, then used Sigh of the Reaper in front of the Yamato's main cannon. The Honor Potion was still on cooldown. Wasn't this the perfect moment to use that very item?
Light flashed, and the wounds on Fang Senyan's body miraculously healed and scabbed over. Gritting his teeth, he rushed forty meters forward, then instantly utilized the teleportation ability of the Dark Gold Ring, yanking the enemy into the range of 'Horn of Frenzy'. Then, like a maddened wild ox, his four limbs churned the air, effortlessly shattering the pavement of the plaza, sending countless stones hurtling towards his foe!
But Fang Senyan raced onward. His entire body was drenched in blood; he had no idea how many traps and mechanisms he had broken through. Yet, precisely because of his sudden explosion of fury—a rapid shift from tank-like brute force to burst speed—at least half of the mechanisms' destructive power failed to trigger on his person.
Fang Senyan slammed his head into Chai Cha's chest, stunning him. Instantly, the illusions vanished! The phantoms affecting Fang Senyan's mind dissolved like soap bubbles.
However, Fang Senyan was battered and bruised from the forceful breakthrough. If he were a normal person, he would have been dead a hundred times over by now.
Chai Cha never expected that the Grand Naga Sorcery Illusion Array he had set up could be broken through by such sheer force. In his mind, Fang Senyan was instantly elevated to the status of those ancient dragons and primeval beasts.
But Chai Cha’s personality was notoriously savage and fierce. With a roar, he drew an iron hook resembling an animal's claw and swung it down towards Fang Senyan’s head. Fang Senyan, needing to pursue the twin brothers without wasting another second, slammed a fierce punch into Chai Cha’s face. This punch nearly flattened Chai Cha's face from three dimensions to two, sending him flying backward spewing blood.
But at the same time, Chai Cha's terrible iron claw slammed heavily onto Fang Senyan's shoulder. Flesh and blood sprayed out, horrifically agonizing. The black, sharp barbs on the claw mercilessly tore away great slabs of skin and muscle!
The two instantly tumbled to the ground together, roaring like beasts. Chai Cha even opened his mouth wide to bite Fang Senyan! But frankly, he was a character whose specialty was intellect. How could he compare to Fang Senyan, who possessed the golden combination of Strength and Physique attributes? In the end, there was only the chilling sound of cracking bones and screams.
Suddenly, Chai Cha was punched away, collapsing weakly against a nearby flower bed. Seeing his eyes smashed out and blood streaming down, Fang Senyan’s face was grim, and he showed no mercy. He strode forward mightily and delivered a brutal kick to Chai Cha's neck! Then, not yet satisfied, he ground his heel down!
Finally, the blade was slowly, inch by inch, retracted.
Chai Cha clutched his throat, a gurgling sound emanating from his windpipe. The look of disbelief and agony in his eyes was so intense that bystanders felt a sense of shared doom, like a fox grieving over a dead rabbit. His gaze dimmed, and he began to convulse on the ground. Blood finally erupted from his mouth, spraying out like a tragic mist fountain.
Chai Cha, known as the King of Naga Sorcery!
Dead!
Sha Li, Roganvald, Lamb, Borth, Pulzibila, Chai Cha, KD—these seven individuals were all prominent figures among the Awakened in their respective spaces. They might not have been the absolute best, but they certainly formed the backbone of their teams.
Yet, every single one of them had now perished at Fang Senyan's hands!
Wiped out! Not a single one managed to survive, not even those attempting to flee. This wasn't because Fang Senyan's pursuit had stirred up massive temporal ripples; there was another reason.
And Fang Senyan, still ferocious and murderous like a vengeful god, strode forward. He still felt unsatisfied.
Yes, as long as those twin brothers capable of unleashing "Curse of Vengeance" lived, Fang Senyan truly could not rest easy! Although they fled by car, Fang Senyan knew no one else was in that vehicle. Both men seemed to be suffering the backlash from their broken curse, and on top of that, they were afflicted with his own virulent disease. How far could they possibly drive? Once the driver fell into a dizzy stupor, a fatal car crash was guaranteed.
After turning around half a street’s length, Fang Senyan spotted the television broadcast van smashed into a nearby cantina (no, the spelling isn't wrong, haha, intentional!), with patrons screaming and scrambling to escape. Fang Senyan approached and saw a figure slumped over the driver’s seat, face covered in blood. Though his killing intent raged, Fang Senyan remained cautious, fearing a trap. He snatched a nearby stool and hurled it violently at the figure. The impact sent the person flying, their head bleeding profusely, twitching on the ground... Fang Senyan looked closer: large patches of purplish-black striations appeared on the skin, following the veins, looking exactly like a female ghost’s long hair, especially dense around the neck, making it seem as if the person was being strangled. Nevertheless, Fang Senyan maintained his guard, kicked the figure hard, sending him crashing into the wall, head bent at an unnatural angle. While he was still processing this, a series of notifications from the Nightmare Imprint flooded his vision:
"You have killed one Awakened (ID Unknown), awarding six Merit Points."
"Your team participated in the combat; please distribute the Merit Points amongst yourselves."
"The maximum Kill Merit Points you can earn in this world is 30 points. If this limit is exceeded, distributed points will be invalidated and not refunded. Please distribute cautiously."
"Random Kill Reward drawing in progress. The reward will be randomly selected from the equipment owned by the contracted player you killed, then randomly distributed to a member of your team."
"Extraction process waiting time is slightly long. Beginning computation of fallen enemy data... Please wait patiently... You have killed one Awakened (ID Unknown), awarding six Merit Points."
"Your team participated in the combat; please distribute the Merit Points..." Looking at this sequence of information on his retinal display, Fang Senyan felt a baffling frustration:
"This... this guy is actually dead?"
Honestly, Fang Senyan believed that even a starved camel was still bigger than a horse, and a broken ship still had three planks of wood. He suspected these twin brothers might have some cooperative backlash ability from their skills. So, though his pursuit seemed urgent, he had actually prepared for a protracted fight. If things went badly, he could always wait for Reef and the others to join the kill.
What Fang Senyan didn't know was that the Curse of Vengeance ability was brutally vicious; the name itself implied it. Frankly, it wasn't a skill that just any Awakened could cultivate. It was only through sheer coincidence that these twin brothers had learned it, but the price paid was astonishing. Coupled with their greed for the rich rewards offered by the mastermind behind the scenes, they had deployed the ability even at a low rank. Consequently, the backlash after the spell was broken was exceptionally severe! What's more, Fang Senyan's disease only compounded the misery?
Regardless, easily dispatching an enemy was always a good thing. Fang Senyan certainly didn't want the opponent to miraculously climb back up and fight him for another three hundred rounds. He casually scanned the prompts, letting out a sigh:
"Why is the Space giving me duplicate notifications now? I killed one guy but it's giving me two alerts... Wait!! Something doesn't seem quite right? Could it be??"
Fang Senyan immediately checked the detailed combat log and indeed found a line:
"Your violent coughing inflicted a Tearing effect on the target, causing the target to enter a Bleeding state..."
"Target eliminated..."
Only then did Fang Senyan realize that it wasn't the Nightmare Space sending repeated notifications. It was that while he was finishing off one of the twin brothers, the other, who was in a much graver condition, had died from a violent bout of coughing...
He circled around to the vehicle and discovered the rear door was ajar. He stepped into the kitchen area inside and heard splashing water from a distance. He found a corpse slumped over the sink, the faucet water running loudly.
It seemed this corpse had been trying to get a drink of water to suppress the cough, but how potent and domineering was the A-Virus? He hadn't managed to drink before dying miserably right there. Seeing the clear blood around his lips, some dark-red pieces of internal organs, and eyes that could not rest in peace, it was clear just how unwilling this fellow was to die! (To be continued) RQ
