Xing'er was extremely excited to see Xiao Shu. Noticing Xiao Shu asking if his eyes were healed, she deliberately rolled her eyes upwards and declared, "I can't see anymore; I've gone blind."
"A blind person managed to pounce into Uncle's arms? It seems this blind person isn't ordinary at all!" As he spoke, Xiao Shu tickled the spot under Xing'er's armpit, causing him to erupt in continuous giggles until he was nearly breathless.
While Xing'er and Xiao Shu were playing, Yingzi was hiding in Elder Sister Xiaoyu’s tent. She borrowed the tent flap to cover the lower half of her face, leaving only her eyes peeking out, quietly observing the uncle and nephew who were as close as father and son. It wasn't until Xiao Hao crept in stealthily from the side, bending over, that she hurriedly let the flap fall, adopting an air of complete innocence. "Where have you been just now?"
"Didn't you see everything? Why ask me deliberately?" Xiao Hao smiled gently at Yingzi, which, in turn, made Yingzi feel like a thief caught in the act, her face flushing with embarrassment.
The two sat facing each other in silence, completely treating Elder Sister Xiaoyu, who was busy nearby, as if she were air. After a long moment, Yingzi softly inquired, "Is he... alright?" Xiao Hao let out a deep sigh, took both of Yingzi's hands, and tried his best to adopt a tender expression. "Even without you, he is still my brother; even without yesterday's story, I would still have gone to save him today. As long as I am alive, he will be fine. We are all grown up now, no longer children, and we won't forget our relationship over a small disagreement."
Hearing this, Yingzi felt greatly comforted, a warm current surging from her heart. She found herself inexplicably grateful for everything Xiao Hao had done for her and Xing'er. However, just as she was about to cast a look filled with deep affection towards Xiao Hao, her chest involuntarily tightened sharply, causing her to suddenly wince in pain.
"What is it?" Xiao Hao asked with concern.
Yingzi shook her head and replied, "I don't know. It seems that whenever I'm about to be deeply moved by something, my chest hurts. Perhaps I'm just too agitated; it's nothing."
Xiao Hao stared at Yingzi without blinking, the scene of Mrs. Nangong and Mr. Nangong meeting their unfortunate end involuntarily flashing through his mind. They still hadn't forgiven him, choosing this method to keep their daughter far from her enemy. What kind of changes might occur if she were ever to learn the truth one day? Xiao Hao sighed, deciding not to dwell on it further. He quietly lifted the flap, stepped out of the tent, and vanished from Yingzi's sight.
A little while later, the sounds of children playing echoed from outside the tent. Xing'er, holding a lollipop, pulled aside the flap and entered. Seeing his mother sitting near the edge of the flap, he reached out and stuffed the entire lollipop into her mouth. "Mom, you need to replenish your health. That way you can live a little longer."
Following right behind Xing'er was, naturally, Xiao Shu. Neither of them was mentally prepared for this sudden meeting. First, Yingzi froze, her mouth, filled with the lollipop, seemingly sealed by 905 glue, unable to utter a single word. Then, Xiao Shu stared at her for a moment, recalling the time they shared lollipops as children—it was just as ridiculous now. Unable to help himself, he pointed at her mouth and burst into laughter. It took Yingzi a long effort to extract Xing'er's enormous lollipop from her mouth. She roared with a fiercely hostile expression, "What's so funny? Does the way I eat a lollipop really look that hideous?"
