Bai Huaqian's sudden appearance was quite a surprise to Xiao Shu; she realized there existed a connection between the departed—the undead—that the living could never sense. Seeing the dismissive glance Bai Huaqian shot her way, she recalled the time she had impersonated Li Xiaohao to trick the antidote right out of her hands. But, in this moment, those memories had faded like dust on the wind. The scar etched onto her face by the spider venom finally served as a distinct brand setting her apart from Li Xiaohao. With effortless ease, she could now distinguish her master from his own twin brother. The days of masquerading and fooling people were irrevocably over.
"Has Da Yong returned?" Li Xiaohao asked, gazing at the raging inferno, calculating the time it would take for the Man-Eating Spirit Worms to overrun the hospital. He didn't even glance at Bai Huaqian as he spoke.
Hearing the name Da Yong, Xiao Shu looked at Li Xiaohao with a strange expression. She suddenly recalled Xiaoyu once mentioning that the very first undead consumed by the Man-Eating Spirit Worms was named Hou Dayong. She mused that the world of the dead also harbored people with identical names. If this Da Yong shared a surname with the other Da Yong, then Li Xiaohao's imagination in creating the undead was truly impoverished. Just imagine his subordinates perpetually bearing names like Chunxiang, Xiagui, Qiuju, and Dongmei—what an utterly comical prospect!
"He is back, and the other three undead are back as well," Bai Huaqian replied.
"Prepare two vehicles. We are leaving this place," Xiao Shu stated coldly.
"Everyone?" Bai Huaqian asked instinctively, confused about whom this 'everyone' encompassed.
Xiaohao turned and walked out of 9457’s room, saying, "Our people, and his people. What choice do we have? If even one of his people suffers the slightest mishap, won't Xing'er's mother tear me apart?" Having said that, he deliberately winked at Xiao Shu. Xiao Shu did not find the remark amusing at all. If circumstances hadn't dictated it, and she hadn't been responsible for the safety of several friends, she would rather die than ask this of him.
Thus, the party split in two. Bai Huaqian followed Li Xiaohao to Xing'er’s room. Xiao Shu went alone to Old He and Xiaoyu’s ward. Upon pushing the door open, she found the three of them mid-conversation; two ‘masked’ men were directing Sister Xiaoyu to serve them. Xiao Shu briefly explained what had just transpired, emphasizing the impending takeover of the hospital by the Man-Eating Spirit Worms. Old He and Sister Xiaoyu immediately grasped Xiao Shu's meaning. Old He braced himself on the bedside rail, sat up, and pulled out his IV drip. Supported by Sister Xiaoyu, he prepared to move out.
Before they reached the doorway, a large monkey darted in from outside, its voice carrying a human cadence as it told the four of them, "Go down the stairs; the car is parked right outside the main entrance. The driver is wearing a black baseball cap." Seeing the monkey speak, Sister Xiaoyu froze, halting her movement toward the exit. The blind Old He, unaware of what had stopped her, shook his head and asked, "What is it? What’s wrong?"
"A talking monkey is standing at the door, telling us to go downstairs and take a car," she whispered to Old He, keeping her voice low.
"Ah? A talking monkey?" Old He exclaimed involuntarily. This outburst startled Xiaoyu, who had been lying perfectly still on the bed. It wasn't just the talking; he and Xiao Shu had both seen this very monkey in the Sea of the Undead, though they had never heard it speak before.
Xiaoyu suddenly sprang up from the bed, navigating toward the source of the voice, and demanded, "You came from the Sea of the Undead. Did you bring water?"
