As Ming Xiaoyu and Li Xiaoshu started on their way, Xiao Hei, who had been crouching in the corner, let out a soft meow, as if reminding them not to forget him. Xiaoyu turned, walked to the corner, picked Xiao Hei up from the ground, and gently stroked the fine hairs around its ears. Tears fell before he could stop them.

"Meow..." Seeing Xiaoyu streaming with tears, Xiao Hei suddenly leaped from his arms onto his shoulder, extended its tiny pink tongue, and delicately lapped up the tears rolling down Xiaoyu's neck.

"Let's go, time is short, and the hospital is still quite a distance away." Watching them cling to each other, Xiaoshu felt a terrible ache in her heart. With great effort, she managed to force out the words she needed to say.

"Mm, let's go." Xiaoyu gently lowered Xiao Hei from his shoulder, cradling it in his arms as if it were an infant, and quickly followed Xiaoshu out of the control room.

By this time, the corpses lying on the ground were beginning to stir—some twitching their legs, others letting out faint sighs. In less than half an hour, everyone killed by the cheap bullet would turn into zombies. Xiaoshu had initially intended to carry them to the sports field to burn, just as before. But seeing Xiaoyu’s hurried pace and honoring her friend's last wish, she grit her teeth and stepped right over the bodies that were beginning to convulse. Without looking back, she led Xiaoshu toward the prison gate.

The Jeep was still parked at the main entrance, and the guardhouse was smashed into a chaotic mess. Xiaoshu felt a surge of doubt, wondering why Li Taiming and Li Bingyu hadn't driven the vehicle away. Then, thinking of the scene of burning bodies on the field, she suddenly understood. She pulled Xiaoshu and sprinted urgently in the opposite direction.

The reason was that Li Bingyu had already doused the Jeep's fuel supply onto the corpses; a car without gasoline couldn't be driven anywhere. The journey from the prison to the hospital would take two or three hours. If they couldn't find alternative transport, Xiaoyu would be forced to choose between his sister and Hua Gu. However, Xiaoshu refused to let him face such a choice, refused to let her friend depart this world burdened by regret. So, guided by instinct, she ran toward the prison's administrative area, hoping to find even a tricycle or a bicycle there—anything would be better than their current predicament.

The sprawling sports field seemed boundless as they ran, and just as Xiaoshu and Xiaoyu were gasping for breath, a black Mercedes suddenly sped toward them from ahead. It drove directly along their path, showing no sign of slowing down or maneuvering around them.

A wave of surprise mixed with hope hit Xiaoshu, and she waved frantically at the Mercedes, making a gesture to hitch a ride. But the driver seemed blind, heading straight for both of them. At the very instant before impact, Xiaoshu’s expression changed; she forcefully shoved Xiaoyu to the side, leaped up to cushion the impact with one hand on the hood, executed a perfect Lǐ Yuè Lóng Mén (Carp Leaping Over the Dragon Gate), flipped onto the roof, and stood there steady as a rock.

The Mercedes finally screeched to a halt, and a stout, thick-necked man wearing sunglasses sprang out of the driver's seat. He snatched off his sunglasses, hurled them to the ground, and pointed at Xiaoshu, cursing, "Are you blind, you damn woman? How dare you stand on top of my car!"

Hearing the fat man's harsh tirade, Xiaoshu’s temper flared instantly. She jumped down from the roof and retorted, "Two living people were standing in the road, and you wouldn't even slow down to avoid us?" As the words left her mouth, the fat man slapped Xiaoshu across the face with a loud pa-cha, his posture menacing. "Do you even know who I am?"

Xiaoshu wiped the half of her face that was numb from the blow, smiled coldly, and said, "Oh, I know. Your father is Li Gang. But my father is Li Gang’s great-great-grandfather." With that, she threw a punch that landed squarely on the bridge of the fat man’s nose. The nose immediately warped, and bright blood began to gush from both nostrils.
