"Brothers of the Primitives! Hear me for a moment. For ages, you have toiled endlessly in hunting and gathering food. Your labor and hardship deserve our respect and admiration. Yet, these damned clone rebels want to reap rewards without effort, exploit the fruits of your labor and your wives and daughters, and seize your homes to take everything you possess! Can you endure this any longer? If you don't rise up to resist now, you will lose everything, even your precious lives!"
Elena tugged at the corner of my clothes. "Can they understand?"
I glanced at the Dragon Girl who was translating for the primitives beside us. "Let's hope they grasp as much as possible. This isn't like six thousand years in the future. In our era, no matter how many rebels there were, I’d have a way to quell them. But here, we are starting from nothing, with no reserves. If we don't unite the masses, this war cannot be fought."
Elena sighed. "Yes, Earth is too vast, and the rebels are so scattered. We don't have rapid transport either. Helping the Dragon Girl will be fraught with difficulties."
I stated firmly, "Just six months. I can’t spare more time. Within six months, we must find the Men in Black and assist the Dragon Girl in peacefully quelling the rebellion and stabilizing the nation."
"Will this affect later generations?" Elena asked, her brow furrowed with concern.
I pondered for a moment. "If I do nothing, that is what will affect later generations. Think carefully: have you ever seen these Human-Beasts widespread in the future?"
Elena replied, "Occasionally, there are reports of normal humans undergoing bestial transformation, and some are afflicted even as fetuses, but never have we seen transformations on such a massive scale."
"Exactly. This means that the Beastmen and Clones under Kang Hui's control are ultimately doomed to fail. Even if a few remnants of these Beastmen genes and forms survive into the six-thousandth year, millennia of evolution and adaptation will have rendered them indistinguishable from normal humans, unless stimulated by certain specific environments which reveal their beastly traits. But by then, it will no longer significantly impact human development."
"As you say, so it shall be. I will follow your lead in everything."
I stroked Elena's golden-yellow hair and drew her into an embrace.
"That's a good girl. You need to be this obedient when we get back, too, understand?"
"Heh heh, I'll see how things go when we get back. If you only pay attention to those other wives and ignore me, I'm moving back to Country M and never visiting your place again."
"I'll find a lock and secure those two big globes of yours; let's see how you walk then."
"Pervert!"
By this time, the Dragon Girl had finished translating my words to the primitives. They clearly still didn't know how to react. At this moment, the primitive who had accompanied Cao and the Centaur-man into our room stepped forward. He babbled incessantly, and soon began waving his hands and shouting. Unexpectedly, he managed to incite the other primitives, who also picked up their stone weapons and started shouting wildly.
The Dragon Girl turned to me. "Dragon Envoy, your method was very successful. They will no longer allow those clones to bully them."
I shook my head. "That alone is not enough. I think we should set off a bit later tomorrow. We'll teach them some self-defense techniques and how to craft basic weapons. And even more importantly, we must leave someone here to lead their struggle. If there is no enemy threat, teach them how to fish and hunt; if rebels cause trouble, they must pick up their weapons and fight back."
The Dragon Girl showed some disagreement. "Dragon Envoy, I feel it would be better to let them handle these tasks themselves. We should concentrate our strength. Scattering our forces will not be conducive to improving combat effectiveness."
I stated solemnly, "Am I the Dragon Envoy?"
The Dragon Girl immediately understood the implication of my words and replied respectfully, "I was wrong, Dragon Envoy. I will heed your instructions from now on."
Elena muttered softly in English, "When it comes to the bedroom, you absolutely must not listen to him. He is a master at manipulating girls."
I turned back to the Dragon Girl. "Dragon Girl, you must trust me. My combat strategies have been verified through blood and fire. If I am wrong, you may punish me. I am willing to sign a military pledge: if the rebels are not defeated within six months, I will accept any punishment."
The Dragon Girl quickly responded, "I wouldn't dare punish the Dragon Envoy. From now on, I will obey everything the Dragon Envoy says without the slightest doubt. Please tell me what we should do next, Dragon Envoy."
I continued, "You must select a trustworthy person to remain here and lead the surrounding primitive tribes and the Centaur-man clan. They must unite their struggles. The Centaur-man clan has limited combat strength, but they are skilled at running and herding, capable of providing intelligence, mounts, and ample food for everyone. Since the primitives walk upright, they must pick up weapons to fight. You need to send people to gradually provide them with weapon technology support. It doesn't have to be advanced weaponry like laser guns or rocket launchers; start by passing on metallurgy techniques so they can forge sharper weapons themselves. This way, you won't need to invest too much capital, only sending a few leaders to control this great army."
The Dragon Girl was clearly becoming excited.
"Yes, Dragon Envoy. Logically, Xiao Ke would be the most suitable person for this task, but she still needs to return to manage her own Ape Tribe affairs. I suggest leaving Bai Nü Xiao Dong here for now. If we find a more suitable candidate later, we can replace her."
"That, you arrange yourself. However, you must instruct her clearly: I don't object to how she interacts with the Centaur-men and primitives, but her work must take absolute priority. Everything should revolve around the mission. Outside of work, she can be as wild as she likes. But if her reckless behavior jeopardizes the mission, let me state the ugly truth now: when we establish rules later, she will be punished as required."
The Dragon Girl nodded solemnly. "Listening to the Dragon Envoy’s words, I feel the time to pacify the rebels will not be long. You truly are a heroic leader; my brother never conceived of these matters."
I smiled. These matters were the conclusions drawn from countless battles six thousand years in the future. How could these prehistoric people, who had never faced external invasion, possibly understand? They had always been battling cosmic disasters; switching to complex human conflict, they were naturally lost on how to proceed.
The Dragon Girl pulled Xiao Dong over and gave her detailed instructions. I didn't need to worry about the rest and returned to the room with Elena to continue sleeping. When we awoke in the morning, Xiao Dong was nowhere to be seen, likely already integrated with the primitives.
We weren't in a rush to depart that morning. Instead, we helped the primitives create some simple tools, such as the bow, a weapon that possessed killing power and could be crafted from readily available materials. We were past the great grasslands now, and trees and vines were common, plus the sinews from the animals the primitives usually hunted—the materials for making bows were abundant.
Later, behind the village, I discovered a natural crude oil seep—a black, stinking water. So, I used animal hides to wrap the oil and tried to fashion a few rudimentary rockets. The test launch showed promising results. Once ignited, this crude oil is difficult to extinguish and has a high ignition point, making it highly effective against large marching formations.
It was a pity we couldn't find saltpeter and sulfur; otherwise, I could have taught them how to make landmines. Making landmines is a project taught to everyone, young and old, in our Great Dragon Kingdom: one part saltpeter, two parts sulfur, three parts charcoal. If we lack iron casings, we build stone ones. Still, I wonder if building landmines in a world dominated by laser guns will just make the enemy laugh.
Regardless, I mentioned the idea to the Dragon Girl. She replied, "We understand the methods for mixing gunpowder, but we never thought to apply it to warfare as the Dragon Envoy has."
