I mused, "Perhaps it's a mutation from some hybridization with the natives. Otherwise, how would an infant come to be in such a hidden place? Chief Hua has already adopted her as a sworn sister; we’ll bring her back to the country and educate her properly so she can contribute to the nation’s development in the future."
How could Smord possibly connect a human being with a flower? He nodded. "That’s fine too. Let's figure out a way to evacuate immediately. We should be within the borders of the Congo by now. Returning the way we came will be too difficult; we need to find a new exit as soon as possible."
I comforted Smord. "Professor, don't worry about this matter. Get some rest; we'll figure out a plan."
Jitengang and Jack also murmured weakly, "We entrust everything to you."
Juda and Cai Bao’er, meanwhile, had started arguing again about some unknown issue. All I heard was Juda demanding, "Where is that small, monstrous fish I caught? Did you secretly roast and eat it? I was planning to take it home as a gift. Find it for me right now, or I’m not done with you!"
Cai Bao’er retorted, "Then where is my beautiful red fruit? Did you secretly gobble it down? I promised my sister I’d bring her a gift, and now we’re going home. What am I supposed to do?"
I pulled the two aside and whispered, "I know a wonderful place; it’s filled with countless gold and treasures. Of course, there’s a price. You must help me secure a share, and I need the largest and most beautiful portion. You know I have too many women at home; I can’t return without bringing back plenty of gifts."
Without another word, they agreed. "Deal. You take half, and we two take the other half. Where is it?"
I pointed vaguely in the general direction and whispered, "Walk straight ahead, and you’ll see a small pyramid. I’ve already opened the door. Just find some large sacks and go fill them up."
Before I had even finished speaking, the two of them were gone like a gust of wind. I stayed behind to help Hua Qingqing bandage and treat the three injured men. Once everything was done, Hua Qingqing pulled me aside and asked, "How are we getting back?"
I paused to think. "I’ll have someone send a helicopter to pick us up. We’ll tell Professor Smord that we contacted the Red Dragon and paid them to come for the extraction."
Hua Qingqing, remembering the incident involving the West Gold Red Dragon from some time ago, agreed. "Okay, but the signal here is blocked; can you actually make contact?"
"Our family’s satellite has global coverage. This isn't a cave, so there shouldn't be any problem. I'll contact them immediately."
"Who is 'our family' with you? Shameless," Hua Qingqing said, blushing, and walked away with Xue’er in her arms.
Finding an open area, I used the communicator on my helmet to link with the satellites above Africa and quickly established contact with home. The signal transferred to Little Raindrop.
"Brother, are you doing well in Africa? You haven't contacted us for so many days; don't you miss us? Have you maybe met some African girls and forgotten us?"
I first wiped the sweat from my brow. "Not at all. These past few days have been a constant fight against Death; there hasn't been a moment to spare."
Little Raindrop gasped. "Ah! Really? That dangerous? Are you all alright?"
"No worries. What kind of trouble could your brother get into? It's those foreigners who are in trouble."
"Oh, that’s a relief then. Sister Mengmeng even said last night that you might have been bewitched by an African girl."
I said, "I don't like girls with dark skin. I like girls with fair skin and yellow skin, so you don't need to worry about that."
"Hehe, it’s a good thing our skin is fair enough. When are you coming back? There are many decisions waiting for you to make at home."
"We want to come home right now. Can you send a plane to meet us? Have the fuselage marked with the Red Dragon insignia, as it’s not appropriate to expose our true identities with these foreigners here."
Little Raindrop replied, "Understood. Your coordinates have been locked. I'll notify the submarine in the Atlantic to come and meet you immediately. As for those foreigners, I think we can drop them off midway in Gabon or Angola. The important thing is that they must not discover the Venus-class submarine."
"Alright, you arrange it. Give us the signal when the time comes."
Next, I contacted Xia Huren and informed him to prepare for boarding. Then I waited for Juda and Cai Bao’er to return with the treasure. However, by lunchtime, neither of them had shown up. Taozi, on the other hand, had returned early. I instructed it to stay by Hua Qingqing’s side while I ran back to the pyramid to check the situation.
Logically, Juda and Cai Bao’er shouldn't be afraid of poison. Could something else have happened? Even if they took five large bags, they should have been done by now. When I arrived outside the pyramid, the scene startled me. In an open area, piles of gold and silver artifacts resembling small mountains were stacked up, while Juda and Cai Bao’er sat to the side, staring blankly.
"Hey, what are you two doing! Hurry up and pick out some beautiful things to take. A plane is coming to pick us up soon."
Hearing me say that, Juda and Cai Bao’er jumped up. "Really! That’s great! We were just worrying about how to move all this stuff. If we call over a transport plane, we’ve made a huge profit this time; it wasn’t a wasted trip after all."
Good heavens, these two were even greedier than I was. But since the goods were already moved out, it would be a shame not to take them. I quickly contacted Little Raindrop.
After I explained the situation, Little Raindrop said, "I’ve dispatched quite a few planes—ten Mountain Eagle fighter jets for escort, two multi-role transport planes, and three Cheetah anti-submarine armed helicopters. That should be enough to carry both the wounded personnel and the treasures. I am currently tracking their marching route via satellite; they will enter your line of sight in another ten minutes. Get ready. Put the foreign wounded personnel onto one transport plane to leave first, and you stay behind to finish loading the cargo."
Not long after ending the communication, I indeed saw a squadron of warplanes flying in the distance. I had informed the flight commanders via communicator about the three locations. After the jets entered our forest area, they split into three teams. One team went to meet Xia Huren and the others, another team went to collect Professor Smord, and the third team came to the pyramid area to figure out how to load the gold and silver artifacts.
I instructed Juda and Cai Bao’er to remain here to support the loading, while I returned to arrange for Jitengang and Jack to board. As for Kamine and Winston, they were already buried underground; finding their bodies now would be difficult.
Because it was hard to find level ground for the helicopters to land, the pilots could only lower rope ladders. I carried the three wounded men up. Although I could have jumped up myself, that would have been too terrifying. After picking up the men, the Cheetah anti-submarine armed helicopters flew into the transport plane bay.
Soon, the armed helicopter sent to pick up Xia Huren returned. Xia Huren descended from that helicopter with Qiu Sihai. The transport plane carrying Professor Smord and the others, escorted by five Mountain Eagle fighters, flew off first. They managed to contact a temporary airfield within Gabonese territory, where American military personnel were waiting to receive Smord and the others.
Juda and Cai Bao’er hacked out a clear, flat area to allow the helicopters to land, and then they started moving the treasures back and forth into the aerial transport plane. With numerous soldiers assisting, the few of us relaxing instead.
