This matter is truly of great importance. Xiao Shu once mentioned that A'li's mother’s eyes were initially red; after reciting the first night of the Sutra of the Original Vows of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, they became less so, merely showing slight bloodshot veins, and by the final night, they had completely returned to how they looked before her death. From the current situation, it seems A'li’s mother has not yet met Xiao Shu, and is presently in the moment where she is desperately trying to save A'li after being murdered.
If the speculation is true, there must be a location here where spacetime intersects, allowing the me from years later to meet A'li’s mother from years past in this very room. If this assumption holds, then A'li’s mother likely learned of Xiao Shu from me and implored him to save A'li.
Realizing this, I dared not delay further, as A'li in the cradle might already be clinging to life by a thread. Having no time to ask her more questions, I directly told her the method to save A'li, urging her to find a way to send a dream message to someone named Li Xiao Shu; only he could save her daughter.
Upon hearing this, she murmured a thank you, and the dim, yellow lamp instantly went out. What had just transpired felt like a play, and now it was time for the curtain call; the lighting technician had flipped the switch, signaling the end of everything.
The shift was too sudden. I stood in the darkness and waited a while longer, but the light did not return. If this were truly a theater, the technician would be dreadfully incompetent, as they left no light on to guide exiting patrons.
Left with no choice, I had to find the switch myself. Reaching out, I groped along the wall beside the door for a long time, only to find the surface perfectly smooth from top to bottom—not a single switch in sight.
Without light, I dared not move forward rashly, so I turned and opened the door to leave.
Once outside, I lost all inclination to check any other doors and headed straight back to the library.
Xiao Shu had already descended the cloud ladder and was sitting in a chair, reading a stack of books. Noticing me return with my mind clearly preoccupied, he seemed slightly unsettled, putting his books down to ask, "What’s wrong with you? Your face is ashen! Where did you just go?"
"I just saw A'li's mother," I told him, still feeling a lingering dread.
The moment the words "A'li’s mother" left my mouth, Xiao Shu’s eyes widened, and with an expression of shock, he said, "Wasn't she already given peace many years ago? How could she possibly appear here?"
"That is precisely the crux of the issue." I sat in another chair and began to discuss my recent encounter with him.
"I believe this villa contains a place where spacetime intersects, allowing A'li’s mother from many years ago to meet the me from many years later. Then, I informed her that you could save A'li, and she returned to that time to send you the dream message. This explains why you suddenly dreamed of A'li’s mother that night."
Xiao Shu shook his head, indicating I was speaking too quickly and that he hadn't followed. So, I reorganized my thoughts and slowly explained the preceding events to him: "I noticed a clear contradiction between the spacing of the doors on the same side of the corridor as the library and the actual space within the library itself. The distance between each door was small, yet the library space was vast—this defies physical logic. To understand the root of this problem, I decided to test whether the other doors on the same side of the corridor, excluding the entrance to the library, could be opened. The first and second doors wouldn't budge, but when I opened the third, I witnessed the scene of A'li’s mother being killed, just like watching a playback. After the replay concluded, A'li's mother appeared beside me, explaining that the scene was an illusion she had conjured with all her remaining strength, begging me to find a way to save her daughter. I recalled you mentioning the dream message from A'li’s mother. It suddenly dawned on me that this was a situation of spacetime convergence. If you truly saved A'li, then what I needed to do right then was to tell her to send the dream message to you."
