May 26th, 2011, was the first day I transferred to Class One of the Senior Year Two at Xiangcheng First High School, and it’s also the date recorded on the first page of this diary. Another new beginning! A person’s life is filled with countless fresh starts—some fill us with elation, others leave us fidgeting with anxiety, some leave us utterly stumped, and yet others fill us with sheer terror. I have no way of knowing what kind of world these fickle "beginnings" will usher us into; you, too, can only wait and see.

Class One of Senior Year Two wasn't just famous within First High School; it was known throughout all of Xiangcheng. This notorious reputation wasn't due to teaching quality or exam scores, but because of one student. Yes, one student! Wherever he went, he commanded everyone's gaze. Kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school… every class he attended became the hottest topic of after-dinner conversation for years, and it remained so for over a decade. Now, I am in the same class as him!

Class time was tedious. However, the first day might have been an exception. As the bell rang, I slung my backpack over my shoulder and hesitantly stepped into the classroom, only to have countless pairs of eyes snap directly onto me. The pair of eyes on the lectern were particularly sharp, as if chastising me for not arriving sooner. Yet, the voice emanating from the mouth beneath those eyes was the complete opposite—warm, exquisitely soft, completely devoid of any reproach.

"Let me introduce our new classmate to everyone!"

I dutifully walked up beside the lectern and cut her off before she could continue: "Hello everyone, my name is Ming Xiaoyu—Ming like tomorrow, Xiao like dawn, Yu like the universe. I'm transferring from Jincheng Middle School. We will be spending the next two wonderful years together, and I look forward to your guidance."

The room fell into a profound silence. Clearly, my impromptu opening speech had completely stunned them. They probably hadn't encountered someone as attention-seeking as me before: deliberately late on the first day, stealing the self-introduction, showing zero shyness, and completely unrestrained. Haha! If I weren't like this, I wouldn't have the illustrious history of transferring five times!

I turned to glance at the eyes on the lectern; the expression of censure had intensified, a sharpness mixed with a flicker of embarrassment in those bright eyes. But the mouth beneath them betrayed the look, issuing a voice of unimaginable sweetness: "Welcome, new classmate!"

A sudden burst of applause erupted from the floor.

Accompanied by the clapping, I bowed deeply. Following the guidance of the hands on the lectern, I made my way to the only empty seat in the back row and sat down.

To my left was the window; to my right was the aisle. Sitting across the aisle was a girl who couldn't exactly be called beautiful. Small eyes, thick arms, sturdy legs, a barrel waist, dressed in a vibrant pink dress, with her hair pulled into two pigtails—she was the spitting image of the little internet sensation, Xiao Yueyue, who had recently exploded in popularity online. If this weren't Xiangcheng, I would have thought I’d genuinely run into the legendary Xiao Yueyue herself.

Looking further ahead, the view was dominated by a sea of dark, bobbing heads. If I wanted to spot a single pleasing face, I would have to wait until the bell rang.

But when the class ended, I couldn't say. I felt a gentle nudge and drowsily opened my eyes, realizing I had drifted off to sleep during the lecture.

I looked up and surveyed the room. The sea of dark heads had vanished, leaving only a scattered few chatting or reading. Xiao Yueyue was standing beside me, scrutinizing me with the kind of gaze one reserves for observing a gorilla at the zoo.
