Three members of the Tianmu Clan fixed their gleaming gazes upon them, lingering the longest on the meteorite beneath their feet. The elder leading the group finally spoke, inquiring whether any of his sect's predecessors were within the meteorite.
Shi Yan secretly chuckled, having deciphered their intentions. He understood their gentle demeanor wasn't born of inherent grace or politeness, but purely from their inability to gauge the depth of their strength.
Casting a glance down at the meteorite, Shi Yan assumed a respectful posture, bowing slightly before raising his head with an air of pride. "My apologies, but my sect's seniors are cultivating within and cannot receive visitors. I hope you can understand."
"Not at all, not at all," the elder’s eyes flickered. He studied Shi Yan deeply, noting the youth's haughty composure and fearless attitude, which made him inwardly alarmed. He grew even more cautious, his smile becoming exceedingly gentle, his tone humble. "Allow me to formally introduce myself; I am Evelyn. These are my junior martial brother and sister, Adams and Marisha. We are heading towards the territory of the Saurian Clan on our way; I wonder if we are traveling the same path as you?"
As he introduced them, the middle-aged man named Adams and Marisha both offered slight smiles, nodding in greeting to Shi Yan and Audrey.
Both of them subtly cast glances at the meteorite beneath Shi Yan, their hearts filled with apprehension. They strictly heeded Evelyn’s words, daring not to provoke a conflict, fearful of drawing the wrath of the "senior elders" of Shi Yan and Audrey supposedly residing within the meteorite.
The streaking flow of meteorites remained turbulent. While the two groups were conversing, the meteorite carrying Shi Yan and Audrey gradually accelerated, drawing closer to the Fire Crystal Cloud Boat captained by Evelyn. Following this trajectory, the two parties would soon pass each other and part ways quickly.
While Shi Yan was engaging in dialogue, Audrey remained aloof, merely listening intently and making no move to speak. Being exceptionally intelligent, she had instantly perceived the reservations of the three Tianmu Clan members. She amplified her own air of arrogance even further than Shi Yan, refusing to even spare the Tianmu Clan members a direct glance.
The colder and more disdainful Audrey appeared, the more cautious Evelyn and his companions became. They interpreted her demeanor as genuine fearlessness, which unsettled them, and they began contemplating whether it would be best to voluntarily give way.
As for Evelyn’s soul injury, he dared not even mention it, terrified it might invite utter annihilation.
"The Saurian Clan?" Just as Evelyn was beginning to retreat, contemplating an early departure from the two, Shi Yan’s eyebrows lifted, and he suddenly laughed. "To be frank, our sect’s seniors are deep in arduous cultivation inside, entrusting the task of navigation to the two of us. However..."
He paused, his expression becoming awkward. "This is our first time here, and we made a navigational error. We are already lost. The seniors don't know about this yet, and we’re quite worried. We don't know where we are right now. Is the territory of the Saurian Clan you mentioned nearby?"
Audrey secretly praised Shi Yan’s ingenuity and cooperated by feigning distress. The coldness vanished from her face, replaced by a gentle sigh, conveying the anguish of someone fearing their elders' reprimand.
The three Tianmu Clan members exchanged glances, their expressions softening into faint smiles. Marisha, the only female among them, chuckled softly. "Indeed, this entire region belongs to the Saurian Clan. The Second Generation Ancestor of the Saurian Clan, Long Xi, is currently feeding. The stream of meteorites beside us is his food; as he consumes, he absorbs nearby meteorites to enhance his power. Once feeding is complete, Long Xi will awaken for a period. The Third Generation Saurian Clan members will then hold a grand feast to celebrate Long Xi’s awakening, bringing forth many rare treasures collected by their clan for trade. We are heading there to look, to see if there are any cultivation materials we require."
What Marisha said sent a jolt through Shi Yan and Audrey. The Second Generation Ancestor of the Saurian Clan, Long Xi, creating a torrent of meteorites simply by feeding, absorbing tens of thousands of stones into its belly—what kind of entity was this? Could it possibly be a Primordial Being?
"Is that Long Xi a Primordial Being?" Audrey inquired with surprise.
Evelyn looked at the pair oddly, stroking his chin. "You must be from the Desolate Domain, right?"
"The Desolate Domain?" Audrey was astonished, still completely bewildered, unable to grasp Evelyn’s meaning.
Evelyn’s expression grew more amazed. "Did your sect’s seniors not tell you anything about this place? Did they not acquaint you with the basic common knowledge of the Void Sea?"
Audrey’s pretty face remained impassive, her expression turning cold. She snorted, "As soon as we arrived, those old fogeys hid inside for cultivation, saying they would explain everything in detail once we reached our destination. They only gave us a direction forward—a bunch of irresponsible old men!"
She stomped her foot, shattering the meteorite beneath her with an explosive crack, appearing genuinely enraged.
The faces of the three Tianmu Clan members changed, their apprehension deepening. They were secretly horrified by Audrey’s casual mention of "they," realizing that the powerful beings latent within the meteorite must number more than one. Judging by Audrey's disrespectful attitude, she was clearly highly favored, which only increased their alarm.
"I see," Evelyn murmured in shock. Seeing that the two groups were about to draw near, his thoughts turned. He cupped his hands. "If you don't mind, I can explain things to you first. It will save your sect seniors the trouble of explaining later."
Audrey’s heart hammered wildly; accepting the offer was exactly what she desired. On the surface, she nodded indifferently. "Then we thank you all."
"You are most welcome," Evelyn smiled and proceeded to explain in detail. "Generally speaking, life forms active in the Void Sea fall into three categories. The first type is like the Saurian Clan: their First Generation Ancestor was a Primordial Being called 'Xi'—the true names of Primordial Beings consist of a single Primordial Script character. The Second Generation of 'Xi' have two-character names; Long Xi is the Second Generation, and the race that follows is the Saurian Clan. Both Long Xi and the Saurian Clan are descendants of the Primordial Being 'Xi'; they are the first category of beings."
"The second category is like us Tianmu Clan members. Our ancestors were not Primordial Beings, but rather high-level beings born anew in the universe after the Primordial Era. Of course, our bloodlines might carry traces of Primordial Beings to some extent, but that is not the key point. We are entirely new life forms of the new age."
"The third category..."
Evelyn paused here, then smiled strangely. "Is beings like yourselves. You are life forms created by Primordial Beings, formed by grasping the truth of life and stimulating life factors and cosmic fluctuations through the power of a Primordial Being's Domain Ancestor level. Because you were created by a Primordial Being and your souls were born within a Primordial Being’s domain, your life destiny will be constrained by that Primordial Being. Unless you kill your creator or refine and replace it, there will always be a strand of servitude imprint within your soul, restraining you by your creator."
"So you mean to say, among the three types of beings, ours is the most discriminated against and inferior?" Audrey bit her lip.
"No, no, no!" Evelyn shook his head and explained earnestly. "Your kind of being can still cultivate to extremely profound and terrifying realms. Your life level can also evolve infinitely. In fact, among your type, some formidable individuals have managed to counter-kill their creators or completely replace them. Of course, before you succeed, you will indeed be constrained, but only your creator has the ability to constrain you; no one else does."
He paused again. "When the three types of beings cultivate to the extreme, reaching high levels of life essence, their fundamental nature is not vastly different. There are many exceptional individuals among your kind who are no less formidable than the other two types of beings. If you manage to counter-kill your creator and take their place, you will become even more powerful."
Evelyn’s explanation caused Shi Yan and Audrey to exchange glances, both deep in thought.
Having arrived at this "Void Sea" and heard these words from the Tianmu Clan members, they finally gained a clearer understanding of the structure of the vast universe. Previously, in the star domain they called the Desolate Domain, they felt like frogs in a dry well, unaware of how boundless the true starry expanse was.
But now, they finally grasped a fraction of the mystery and understood the profound significance.
"How did you know we came from the Desolate Domain? Is there a clear demarcation here?" This time, Shi Yan pressed for answers.
Evelyn was no longer surprised by their ignorance. "The language you use exists within the imprints of my memory, and it is the language of the Desolate Domain. The Desolate Domain is the domain realm of the Primordial Being 'Desolate.' In previous eras, beings from your Desolate Domain entered the Sea, so your language spread."
He paused and continued, "Outside the 'Void Sea,' there are many domain realms similar to the Desolate Domain, as well as true, primordial domain realms formed at the very beginning of the universe. The 'Void Sea' contains many Domain Gates that connect directly to the outside realms. Many of the three types of beings I just described live in the domains outside the Void Sea, though some also reside within it, like the Saurian Clan."
"So, the Void Sea is the center of those domains? The external domains are like many distinct worlds, all orbiting around the Void Sea?" Audrey asked in surprise.
Evelyn nodded. "Exactly. Your Desolate Domain is a domain realm created by the Primordial Being Desolate, indistinguishable from a true domain realm. Even if Desolate vanished, that domain realm would persist eternally. Of course, the domain realm of our Tianmu Clan was not created by a Primordial Being, but formed naturally over billions of years of the universe. Most external domains are actually naturally formed; domain realms truly created by Primordial Beings are exceedingly rare, and they are comparatively much safer. You are actually incredibly fortunate, cultivating to such a level so smoothly, growing in a greenhouse. Countless clansmen in our domain envy you."
"Envy us?" Audrey’s expression was peculiar.
"Of course, we envy you," Marisha interjected this time, her eyes shadowed with sorrow. "My family lives on a star in our domain. When I was born, there were hundreds of children my age. In less than a thousand years, two-thirds have died, all killed by the natural heavenly might encountered while cultivating outside."
"As perilous as this Sea?" Shi Yan asked, aghast.
"It’s certainly not as perverse as here. If they lived here, they would all have died long ago; there wouldn't be a third left. Although our domain is not as dangerous as this place, it is by no means safe—there are life-threatening storms everywhere, soul-destroying gales, and we must venture out to cultivate. Death is truly commonplace," Marisha stated.
"Most of the domain realms outside the Void Sea are perilous, much like our Tianmu Clan's domain. Only after enduring countless trials in those external domains and breaking through to a certain level of cultivation are beings qualified to step here, to travel within this Void Sea," Adams, who had been silent throughout, remarked with a sigh.
Shi Yan and Audrey listened silently. By this point, they finally had a clear understanding of the "Void Sea," recognizing its unique nature and realizing that countless domains similar to their own existed in the vast universe, all situated on the periphery of the "Void Sea."
This place was the center for countless domains, a mysterious land that attracted powerful, high-level beings to explore.
