The starlight canopy overhead shielded them from the torrential downpour, but a grave expression crossed Shi Yan's face, mingled with clear astonishment.
Xia Xinyan, acutely aware of the subtle shift in his demeanor, gasped, "What did you find?"
"Someone is approaching."
A thought flashed through Shi Yan's mind, and he willingly released his life signature, extending his consciousness.
He needed to know if Dicarro and Redi had come specifically to this location.
A thread of soul-consciousness drifted outward, flickering within the stream of light beyond the domain, focusing intently on perception.
They were indeed headed for this very spot!
The destination for Dicarro and Redi’s joint arrival was precisely here. The moment his divine sense swept out, both Dicarro and Redi showed surprise. They exchanged a glance, frowned slightly, and transformed into twin bolts of electric light, instantly traversing the spatial distance.
In the next moment, Redi and Dicarro stood beside Shi Yan and Xia Xinyan. These two martial artists, both having reached the realm of Immortal Second Heaven, wore extremely strange expressions upon seeing Shi Yan.
"Why are you here?" Dicarro asked, utterly bewildered.
Shi Yan was equally perplexed. "Then why are you here?"
"You are the one who gifted me a surge of pure energy!" At the same time, Xia Xinyan also breathed out softly, a strange light flashing in her beautiful eyes as she gazed at Dicarro, inquiring, "We are strangers, so why did you infuse that pure energy into me?"
"Because you cultivate the profound mysteries of Time. Among the vast Sea of Stars, you are not the only one cultivating Time's profound mysteries, but you are currently the one with the deepest attainment. It seems your inner demons are cleared. Ah, that is excellent; this way, you can continue breaking through realms and advancing further," Dicarro said gently, glancing at her with satisfaction.
"I don't understand what you mean."
"You don't need to understand for now, because your realm is still too low. When the time is right, when your cultivation reaches the required level, I will naturally tell you the reason."
"Why are you here?"
Dicarro suddenly frowned and fell silent. He took a deep breath, looking at the clusters of clouds beside them, then back at Shi Yan and Xia Xinyan, asking, "How did you know about this place?"
"Just by chance."
Shi Yan rubbed his forehead, pondering for a moment. He decided that revealing the truth might aid in understanding the situation, so he explained everything precisely: "A friend of mine accidentally came here and seemed to be swallowed by those clouds. I sensed her life fluctuation and followed..."
"Those are not clouds!" Redi interjected suddenly.
Dicarro looked at him. "Is there any connection to those entities from your Celestial Demon Clan?"
Redi shook his head, hesitating before looking at Shi Yan. "You should ask him; I think he knows more than I do."
Dicarro’s eyes brightened, and he cut straight to the chase. "Kid, do you feel a sense of familiarity here? Do you sense the unique aura of the earliest generation of the Celestial Demon Clan in the vicinity?"
Shi Yan surveyed his surroundings, looking at the clusters of clouds and the bizarre rain, testing the waters. "You mean the life form that might exist here?"
Redi and Dicarro both nodded simultaneously.
"No, there isn't a trace of the aura of any Celestial Demon Clan ancestor. If there were, I would certainly have noticed. Back in the Thunder Roar Star Domain, when I first encountered the separated soul of lightning, I could immediately sense the subtle differences, but here, I feel nothing of the sort," Shi Yan stated frankly.
At these words, the expressions of Redi and Dicarro both turned solemn.
After a long pause, Dicarro spoke gravely, "We guessed wrong. It is not one of the Celestial Demon ancestors. Then... what could it be? Is it not a life form from our Sea of Stars?"
"What are you talking about?" Shi Yan was stunned.
Dicarro looked at him, hesitated for a moment, and then explained, "In this Void Turbulence Domain, this thing has always existed. Countless martial artists who carelessly fell in over the ages have been swallowed by it. It is very strange, as if it has fragmented itself, with remnants scattered throughout the various bizarre corners of the Void Turbulence. I have lived in the Void Turbulence for many years and have seen its presence in many different regions. It possesses life consciousness, can absorb the energy here, and seems to be slowly wriggling, yet it never communicates with living beings..."
As he spoke of this bizarre entity, Dicarro's eyes held a mixture of astonishment, confusion, and perhaps a trace of apprehension, as if he feared something.
"Aren't they just clusters of clouds? Are these clouds its body?" Xia Xinyan whispered.
For some unknown reason, Dicarro was not particularly warm toward Shi Yan, even showing a poor attitude, yet he was very gentle with Xia Xinyan and paid close attention to her questions.
"The clouds are merely a superficial layer of concealment. I will show you what it truly looks like; watch closely." Dicarro formed a hand seal, his ten fingers interlaced, shooting out blades sharp as scissors from his fingertips. All the blades converged on one inky-black cloud mass.
The blades moved like agile scissors, peeling away the dark, cottony clouds as if segmenting an orange. Cluster after cluster of the dark, cotton-like substance split apart like smoke.
Then, an ugly thing truly manifested itself...
It was a grey-brown mass covered in spots, reminiscent of a person's nose dripping sticky snot, like some sort of writhing worm, a lump of flesh, a tumor, slowly undulating, utterly disgusting and unsightly.
Just a single glance was enough for Xia Xinyan to recoil in disgust. "Truly repulsive."
"There are tens of thousands of these cloud clusters here, and inside every one is an entity like this. Many flesh-lumps have martial artists enveloped within them—those who fell accidentally into the Void Turbulence, were restrained by it, and slowly killed. These cloud clusters are individual, ugly masses of flesh, like worms or malignant tumors, sometimes condensing together, but mostly remaining scattered. I must also inform you that there are many regions in the Void Turbulence where similar clouds exist; I have seen many myself. Even with my realm and cultivation, I could not detect the end of the Void Turbulence. Perhaps in even more distant, secluded, and profound places, there are even more of these things..." Dicarro explained.
Shi Yan and Xia Xinyan were filled with shock and awe, frozen, unable to utter a word.
In the endless Void Turbulence Domain, there were countless locations harboring these tumor-like life forms. Who knew how long they had existed, or how many eras of misguided martial artists they had consumed.
Did this thing possess high-level intelligence? Even Dicarro couldn't figure it out.
Because he had never established any communication with it. But Dicarro always had a faint, persistent feeling: he felt this entity absolutely had intelligence, a complete life consciousness, and the reason it didn't communicate with him was because it... simply disdained to do so.
"I have a very absurd feeling. I feel it disdains to communicate with us because it deems us unworthy. It's like how we wouldn't converse with an insect because we are high-level beings, and the insect is merely the lowest form of creature; there is an insurmountable gap between us..." Dicarro added.
"Absurd! Truly absurd. You must be mistaken," even Redi couldn't listen anymore, shaking his head repeatedly in doubt of Dicarro's feeling.
"Besides you, who else knows about the existence of this thing?" Shi Yan suddenly asked.
Dicarro snorted. "I don't know. As far as I know, there aren't many living people who know about this entity. Guys like Xuanhe, Fielite, and Tianxie certainly have exquisite cultivation, but that is limited to other regions. Here in the Void Turbulence, they are also restrained everywhere and cannot linger for too long."
"Then what is your purpose in coming here?" Shi Yan asked again.
"He believes this thing is a latent threat that cannot communicate, so he intends to destroy it. We are here to systematically destroy the gathering points of this entity that he knows of, to prevent any future trouble," Redi explained to Shi Yan with an easygoing manner.
Shi Yan had, after all, revived him, and he was a synthesizer of his ancestral star's origin essence. Deep in his soul, Redi felt a profound compatibility with Shi Yan and instinctively gravitated toward him.
This was an imprint on the soul, existing since birth, impossible to erase.
"Destroy this place?" Shi Yan grinned. "A good idea. I have the same plan. It seems we are in agreement."
"You must have already attempted it," Dicarro frowned, his expression grave. "Although your cultivation isn't high, you have merged with the origin of the Ancient Continent and possess Heavenly Fire, which is rumored to be capable of refining any living being. You tried, and yet you failed?"
Redi’s face also darkened. "This thing is really that troublesome?"
"My Heavenly Fire couldn't refine it, perhaps because it hasn't been fully integrated, but this entity is indeed profoundly bizarre," Shi Yan nodded.
Dicarro kept a straight face, his gaze sweeping the surroundings. After a while, he suddenly said to Shi Yan, "Currently, your Bloodthirsty lineage and the Divine Race are locked in intense battle. You are neglecting your important business to come here. Redi and I will handle matters here; you should leave soon. Don't waste the high regard Xuanhe and Minghao have for you."
"A friend of mine has disappeared," Shi Yan grunted.
"So it's over a woman! Heh heh, the kid has my spirit from back in the day!" Redi roared with laughter, shaking the void like an explosion. He cast a roguish glance at Xia Xinyan and grinned again. "And you brought two girls out with you this time? Impressive!"
Both Redi and the Azure Dragon possess Dragon Clan bloodlines and were known for being unrestrained and wild. Rumor had it that the reason the two Celestial Demon ancestors, Redi and Qingxiao, quarreled for years was over a woman.
"Besides, the Divine Race elder Xinghuo just died, and the Fire Rain Star Domain achieved its first victory. The larger strategic arrangements for the main battle are naturally being planned by Xuanhe, Minghao, and Fielite. I don't need to worry too much," Shi Yan stated calmly.
He was self-aware enough to know that until he broke through to the Immortal realm and genuinely earned the right to challenge Xuanhe and Minghao, he, the newly appointed Bloodthirsty Sovereign, was merely a figurehead.
His ascension to the Sovereign position was so that Xuanhe, Minghao, and Fielite could issue commands legitimately in the name of the new Sovereign.
Unless Xuanhe, Minghao, and Fielite disregarded the ancient rules of the Bloodthirsty sect, those who served as the Eight Escorts had no right to summon all cultivators of the Eight Great Evil Forces to wage war against the Divine Race.
"If you are truly determined to stay, I will tell you more, because you can indeed still be of some help," Dicarro pondered for a long time, nodding slightly.
Shi Yan's eyes lit up.
