Undoubtedly, the unfortunate child who died was a member of the RD group, seemingly having zero connection to Fang Senyan, yet an indescribable emotion surged within him nonetheless. He couldn't help but smash a heavy fist against a nearby tree!
This was the innate sense of superiority of humanity, the apex of all beings! This was the instinctive rage at witnessing one of their own treated as mere sustenance!
Don't give me that garbage about how no one minds eating pork, beef, or chicken—why isn't that cruel?
Since we are human, then naturally, we must possess human pride and the resolve to defend our own kind!
Just then, Reef also walked in. Upon seeing the scene, his face immediately turned ashen. After a long moment, he finally said slowly,
“These bastards… I genuinely have the urge to desecrate the corpse.”
“They snatched a mission from us,” Fang Senyan suddenly interjected.
With Fang Senyan’s words, Reef immediately grasped the crucial point. This poor soul, who had been roasted, was undoubtedly another RD member. He likely hailed from the Hell’s Gate base. If they could obtain his identity tag, it would translate into a very simple retrieval mission—and the reward for this mission carried the nature of a lucky draw.
There was a high probability this individual was just an ordinary mercenary, in which case the reward would be meager. But if his rank was significantly higher, the reward would obviously be substantial.
Fang Senyan clearly spoke those words after observing the thoroughly ransacked pile of debris next to the fire pit. That heap contained the mangled fur of a Thanator, the heads of the Viper Wolves—creatures all the contractors had killed until their hands were numb—and tattered pieces of camouflage soldier uniforms, messy hair, and viscera... Evidently, this spot served as the Na'vi kitchen.
Next, Fang Senyan raised his head and observed the large hollow in the center of the tree, easily twenty meters high, complete with tree-holes connecting to the outside, indicating the skylight ventilation was clearly adequate. When he stepped out, he saw Makgi looking up at Kong. Seeing Fang Senyan, Makgi simply walked away without a word.
Fang Senyan moved to where Makgi had stood and looked up. It went without saying that the foliage of the Hometree branches overhead was dense, but several giant, transparent, brownish pod-like objects swayed in the air. These were obviously the Na'vi beds; one could climb onto them at night to sleep soundly, much like in a hammock. Fang Senyan’s pupils contracted slightly, and without a word, he moved away.
The next order of business was manual labor.
The Hometree relied on the energy from Pandora's superconducting ore crystals to grow. However, it wasn't about draining or plundering; rather, the superconducting crystals created permanent magnetic vortices, and the massive trunk of the Hometree required this zero-gravity environment for maximum growth.
The more abundant the Pandora crystal vein reserves, the larger the magnetic vortex produced, and the stronger the impetus provided for the Hometree's growth, leading to a perpetually grander tree.
This was the same principle as why the blue whale, the largest creature on Earth, lived in the water; only with the buoyancy of water could it sustain its immense volume. If a blue whale were to come ashore, it would surely be crushed by its own terrifying weight. Thus, there was a clear reason why Hometrees were invariably far larger than other trees.
Therefore, it went without saying that by digging down along the Hometree's roots, a significant quantity of Pandora superconducting ore crystals could be found.
Unquestionably, the M-Exoskeleton System was the ideal apparatus for this task.
The entire execution process proceeded flawlessly, and the excavated Pandora superconducting ore crystals flowed forth endlessly. However, all the contractors present—except for the Ace Team—immediately faced a deeply awkward predicament. This very problem had already vexed Reef and Mogensha in the Starship Troopers world.
That is, Pandora superconducting ore crystals could not be digitized; they took up considerable space, and were incredibly… heavy!
Were it not for a freak like Fang Senyan, who advanced step-by-step without shortcuts and possessed legitimate military rank, the storage capacity of the Nightmare Mark would be extremely limited. Regrettably, the others present were not such freaks as Fang Senyan. Thus, despite their best efforts, they could only stuff in the amount of crystals required to complete the milestone. Two contractors couldn't even fit that much and had to leave hilariously shouldering large sacks—though they certainly didn't forget to pay Fang Senyan and the others the due reward for hitting the milestone.
Of course, it was only at this moment that the three core members of the Ace Team deeply appreciated the significance of the team warehouse’s massive capacity: 101010 = 1000 cubic meters!
After Fang Senyan scanned and submitted the quantity of Pandora superconducting ore crystals he had acquired, he received the prompts:
“You have collected 1000 units of Pandora superconducting ore crystals.” (The purity evaluation for this crystal cannot be lower than 16.8%.) “You have gained the Title: Plunderer.” “Plunderer: When you kill an enemy, there is a 2% chance to acquire an extra Key, the rank of the Key being proportional to the strength of the enemy killed.” “Only one Title can be effective at any given time. Do you wish to equip Title/Plunderer now?” “Advancement Milestone: Robber Activated.” “Completion Condition: You have collected 3000 units of Pandora superconducting ore crystals.” (The purity evaluation for this crystal cannot be lower than 51.3%.) “Hint: Pandora superconducting ore crystals with a purity evaluation below 51.3% are almost impossible to generate naturally, so… you know, go find them at Hell’s Gate.”
“This title seems pretty good too. But what use is it for Title Synthesis…?” Fang Senyan remained quite confused about Title Synthesis at this juncture. At the same time, all formal members of the Ace Team tacitly avoided mentioning the team warehouse, clearly having no intention of sharing this precious secret with Leer, Yu Ze, or even Jin Ximin and Makgi.
By now, the sunlight was beginning to slant, casting dappled spots through the Hometree’s leaves onto the ground. The contractors who had joined mid-way had already departed; they weren't overly interested in the Headhunter milestone, so they naturally prioritized their valuable remaining time for other pursuits.
Suddenly, the M-Exoskeleton System armor, which was still digging, trembled violently. Thick plumes of black smoke jetted out from the six engine conduits behind its chest, and the roar of the engine in its chest cavity abruptly intensified. It felt as if an overloaded, colossal truck was laboriously attempting to climb an incline; the entire machine began to shake violently.
“What’s wrong?” Mogensha suddenly inquired.
Makgi muttered a few words, seemingly pained by the strain on the M-Exoskeleton System, then stomped the throttle a few times:
“Damn it, there seems to be something huge beneath the dirt! Can anyone lend a hand?”
Reef, ever the most eager, immediately rushed over to assist. He casually broke off a tree trunk nearby and used it for leverage and blunt force. After much effort, they managed, in concert with the mechanical armor, to yank the object out of the soil. Then, everyone was somewhat startled: the object was a coffin crafted from cyan-colored rock!
A stone coffin!
This coffin was roughly three meters high and five meters long. Most of the engravings had faded away, but the remaining patterns conveyed an atmosphere of soaring ferocity ready to burst forth. It was evident that the Na'vi who buried it did so with intense piety and reverence.
It was just… this coffin was deliberately interred directly over the largest opening of the Hometree. According to Makgi's investigation of Na'vi customs, although they practiced burial, they absolutely never walked over the graves of those they respected. This behavior was truly baffling. If they respected the deceased, why would they tread upon and scorn the resting place? If they intended to tread upon it, why bother with reverence in the first place?
However, at this moment, Fang Senyan inadvertently caught the look exchanged between Yu Ze and Leer, which conveyed an indescribable feeling. A fleeting mixture of greed, ecstasy, astonishment, and sudden enlightenment crossed their features. Although this expression vanished almost instantly, it was genuinely captured by Fang Senyan’s eyes and recorded by his mind.
“Hmm, it seems these two know what’s inside this stone coffin.”
By this time, Mogensha and Makgi had worked together to open the coffin. Since their faces were already covered with oxygen masks, there was no need for things like sticky rice or black donkey hooves; they didn't fear mummy poisoning. The M-Exoskeleton System delivered one punch, and the exquisitely crafted yet fragile stone lid promptly cracked. Mogensha delivered another kick, and the coffin immediately tilted, exposing its contents to the sunlight.
It was a skull.
A colossal skull!
The stone coffin was already quite massive, but compared to this long and enormous skull, it could only just barely contain it. Such a gigantic skull placed within such a coffin looked almost comical, like a leg too fat stuffed into trousers that were too tight.
The muscle tissue inside the skull, jammed in the coffin, had rotted away, and the eyeballs had shriveled into thin membranes, but the tough outer skin remained, exhibiting distinct patterns of alternating red and yellow stripes. One could imagine that even in darkness, such markings would be exceptionally vivid, instantly recognizable from a distance.
In nature, this represented terror, deterrence, the petrifying fear upon sight, and the utter dominance that swept across the entire planet!
Well, another overlord has arrived…
You guys need to give me some time to prepare. So, nothing today. But I won't default on my promise.
So, tomorrow will have five updates.
There will be an extra update tonight at 12:00 for recommended votes; if any comrades have time to spare, feel free to stop by, hehe. RO
