Consequently, even in an age capable of interstellar travel, their mercenaries were still using outdated kinetic projectile firearms powered by chemical energy—relics from the late 21st century. They lacked even basic laser weapons, let alone heavy ordnance like tanks or Star Destroyers. The best-preserved AMP Powered Exoskeleton Systems (the mechs seen in the film) were themselves rebuilt units based on outdated designs from twenty years prior to the current timeline.
