Lin He found it slightly amusing; this girl had truly been spoiled by her. The moment she got into the carriage, she fell asleep, and after waking, she didn't even possess basic courtesy. Sitting there blankly, where was her awareness as a maidservant?

Lin He stared at Ziyu for a good while before Ziyu snapped back to reality. She said sheepishly, "Miss, I didn't sleep well last night. The swaying of the carriage as soon as we set off made me drift off. You didn't wake me up either. Do you want to rest a bit? Here, lean on me for a short nap."

Wen Ningxuan said, "There should be an inn not far ahead. We can stop there to rest and continue our journey tomorrow."

"No need, I'm not tired. It’s barely noon yet, aren't we traveling this afternoon?" Lin He inquired.

"It won't delay us by more than a few days. It doesn't matter if we arrive a little later. Once we reach the inn, we can get something to eat, rest well, and we'll have more energy for traveling tomorrow."

Since Wen Ningxuan said there was no rush, Lin He didn't press the issue. Although this carriage was significantly smoother than an ox cart, traveling all day was still tiring work; having time to rest was naturally welcome.

As expected, the carriage didn't travel much further before they reached a small town. The driver pulled the carriage to a halt in front of an inn. Wen Ningxuan asked Lin He and Ziyu to wait in the carriage while he went down first. About the time it takes for one stick of incense to burn, Wen Ningxuan’s attendant came to call Lin He and Ziyu down, saying the rooms were secured and they could disembark.

Because it was past noon, the inn wasn't crowded; it felt somewhat quiet. Lin He and Ziyu walked in. Wen Ningxuan was standing inside the inn, and upon seeing Lin He arrive, he motioned for the waiter to take them to their rooms to rest first.

Lin He was indeed a bit weary from the journey and felt hungry. Just as she was about to ask Ziyu to inquire about meal times, there was a knock at the door. Opening it, she found Wen Ningxuan's attendant along with the inn's waiter. The attendant brought in several basins. "Miss He'er, these are things my young master just had bought. They are all new, Miss can use them without worry."

The waiter also brought in a basin of hot water, placing it to the side, and stated, "Miss, should the food be sent up to your room later, or would you like to dine downstairs with the young master?"

"We'll go down to eat together later," Lin He replied.

The attendant nodded slightly and followed the waiter out, closing the door. Ziyu looked at the basins nearby and said, "Miss, look how kind the Second Young Master is to you. He even thought of such small details; I didn't even consider them."

"You still have the nerve to say that? I don't know why I keep you around," Lin He said, deliberately putting on a stern face.

"Miss, you can't blame me. I had my reasons! In the carriage, I wasn't deliberately sleeping. Think about it, in such a cramped space, if I kept my eyes wide open watching you both, could you two speak so freely? See, I was asleep, and the Second Young Master ended up telling you so much. Perhaps the Second Young Master wished I would just stay asleep forever," Ziyu said with a laugh.

"You wicked girl, when did you become so cunning? If you talk nonsense again, watch out for my reprisal! Sleeping yourself was bad enough, but now you have so much to say," Lin He chided with a smile.

"Miss, what I said is true! I have never seen the Second Young Master talk so much, nor have I seen him so happy. It's all because of you," Ziyu stuck out her tongue.

"Alright, alright, I get it. Hurry up and fetch water for me to freshen up. If you don't get moving, your Second Young Master will starve to death," Lin He said with a touch of resignation.

Ziyu chirped an acknowledgement and immediately set about quickly wringing out a towel for Lin He to wash her face and hands, and even redid Lin He's hair. Then they headed downstairs together. When they reached the ground floor, Wen Ningxuan’s attendant was waiting. Seeing them descend, he led them toward the room farthest in. Only then did Lin He take a careful look at the inn. It wasn't large, but the décor was quite stylish. The place was impeccably clean, and the staff were very polite. Furthermore, there were private rooms. Lin He and Ziyu followed the attendant into one of these rooms, where Wen Ningxuan was already seated. A waiter stood nearby. Wen Ningxuan stood up as Lin He entered and said, "He'er, what would you like to eat?"

Lin He glanced at the menu the waiter presented and casually ordered a few dishes. Seeing that it was sufficient, Wen Ningxuan sent the waiter away. Lin He sat down on a chair by a small tea table nearby. There was a window here that perfectly overlooked the bustling street life. It was a busy time, with many people hawking their wares along the roadside—quite a lively little town.

Ziyu stood beside Lin He, chattering animatedly about the happenings on the street and occasionally letting out a light giggle. After watching for a while, they heard a knock. Lin He assumed it was the food arriving, so she stood up. When the waiter brought in all the dishes, Lin He was momentarily stunned by the sheer quantity. Did Wen Ningxuan really need to be this extravagant? There were only four people in the room—herself, Ziyu, and Wen Ningxuan’s attendant—plus Wen Ningxuan himself. How many meals would this cover? It was such a waste.

Moreover, during the meal, Wen Ningxuan’s attendant and Ziyu ate separately. It was just the two of them, and consequently, most of the food went uneaten. Lin He remarked, "Second Young Master, next time you don't need to order so many dishes. How can the two of us possibly finish all this?"

Wen Ningxuan looked at the table laden with food and explained, "I wasn't sure which dishes you favored, so I ordered everything my father ordered the last time you dined out with us. I figured there would be something you liked."

Lin He chuckled softly. "Last time there were more of us. This time it's just the two of us, so there’s no need for this much. I'm quite easygoing about food; there’s no need to go to such lengths. Besides, one isn't so particular when dining out."

Wen Ningxuan nodded. After a moment, he suddenly seemed to recall something and spoke up. "He'er, don't call me Second Young Master anymore."

"If not Second Young Master, then what should I call you?" Lin He asked teasingly.

"Just call me by my name."

"Wen Ningxuan?"

"No, too formal."

"Little Xuan? That's what I call Xiao Mo."

"Call me Ning Xuan."

"Ning Xuan?"

"Yes, call me that from now on," Wen Ningxuan said with satisfaction.

Lin He actually found calling him Second Young Master a bit awkward sometimes, but suddenly changing the appellation felt strange too. However, since she usually just used Wen Ningmo's given name, this transition wasn't too drastic. Lin He nodded her assent.

"In the afternoon, do you want to rest or go out for a stroll? Shall I accompany you?" Wen Ningxuan inquired.

"No need. I'll take Ziyu out for a walk, and we'll come back to rest later," Lin He replied.
