Jin Jie had actually reached her limit two minutes ago, but sheer pride kept her teeth gritted as she stubbornly held on. Fang Senyan certainly noticed the sudden, sharp drop in the tension in her long legs. After running through her fighting experience a couple of times, he found it utterly dull. With a casual block of her side kick, he turned and walked away. He felt he had just given this Jin Jie a graceful way out, assuming she wouldn't press the issue further.
Seeing Fang Senyan turn to leave, Jin Jie’s vision immediately darkened, and a wave of near-collapse washed over her as her tension broke. Logically, the matter should have ended there, but disastrously, someone suddenly burst out of the bar, shouting in panic:
“Don’t let that murderer get away!”
This cry struck like a stone into still water, causing an immediate uproar. Upon hearing the news, Jin Jie’s eyes turned red. Seeing Fang Senyan’s retreating back, she sprinted, leaped, hung in the air, then executed a mid-air forward roll with incredible force, bringing her right leg down like a blade aimed squarely at the enemy’s head! This Taekwondo technique usually required a Dan rank of at least seventh degree to execute—something Jin Jie shouldn't have been capable of. But upon learning of her friend’s death, she achieved a transcendent burst, unleashing this overwhelmingly sharp attack.
Yet, in that precise instant, Fang Senyan spun around as if he had eyes in the back of his head!
Bright, blinding car headlights bore down on him, but Fang Senyan’s gaze suddenly flared as if ignited by fire. His pupils automatically contracted, completely unaffected. In that moment, Jin Jie felt an indescribable, ferocious aura of bloodlust wash over her, glaring and menacing! She almost screamed, her muscles slackening so much that she nearly lost control.
Simultaneously, Fang Senyan effortlessly threw out a punch, striking Jin Jie’s downward-chopping blade kick!
Fist against foot; logically, the fist should have been the one to suffer.
But Fang Senyan’s body didn't budge an inch. Jin Jie’s face instantly turned ashen. After a sharp, half-formed cry, she tumbled to the ground in utter disarray. The first thing she did upon landing was clutch her kicking right leg. Her entire body shook on the ground, pale-faced, her lips trembling uncontrollably.
At that moment, a young woman rushed out of the bar, looking utterly distraught, clutching her left arm and screaming shrilly:
“Jin, stay away from that guy, he’s a demon… Bastard! I’m the one who knocked over the drinks, stay clear of Jin!”
This mixed-race girl, Jessica, sprinted forward and positioned herself directly in front of Fang Senyan. Fang Senyan smirked, dismissing them with contempt:
“If I wanted to kill you, you all would have died a thousand times over.”
With that, he casually started walking away into the distance. However, the wail of approaching sirens made Fang Senyan frown instantly. The police presence meant complications. His gaze shot toward the Maserati sports car parked nearby, and he looked at Jessica:
“Yours?”
Though her face was bloodless from pain, Jessica retained her feisty nature and shouted back, “What? Country bumpkin, never seen a nice car before?”
Fang Senyan impatiently grabbed her by the neck and, with quick efficiency, shoved her into the passenger seat:
“Less chatter, give me directions to lose the cops, and I’ll let you go!”
He then turned back to the stunned onlookers and announced loudly:
“I don’t lack money, nor do I have any grudge against her. I just need her help navigating to shake the police. If nothing unexpected happens, I’ll return her in half an hour. But if you people spout nonsense and cause me to be chased by the cops, then what happens next is anyone’s guess.”
With that, he slid into the driver’s seat, fired up the engine, and two plumes of blue smoke shot from the powerful sports car’s tailpipes, instantly leaving the dumbfounded crowd far behind. Feeling the potent handling of the top-tier sports car, Fang Senyan couldn't help but whistle contentedly. He then turned to the mixed-race girl, Jessica:
“Hey, which way to Yau Ma Tei?”
The girl remained silent, pale, tightly clutching her left arm. It seemed her arm hadn't fared well when Fang Senyan had thrown her aside, perhaps suffering a significant impact. She merely huddled in the passenger seat, trembling, large tears rolling down her cheeks, unsure if it was from pain or fear. Seeing this, Fang Senyan felt a pang of reluctance. He pulled the flask of ‘Infinite Potent Vodka’ from his coat and tossed it over, impatient:
“Drink.”
Jessica shot him a look of anger and defiance, lifting her hand as if to toss the flask out the window. Fang Senyan slammed the brakes suddenly, leaning over to force a few mouthfuls down her throat. The girl immediately began coughing violently, a flush spreading across her pale cheeks. Fang Senyan ignored her, casually browsing the in-car computer for a preferred song to play. Choking until her face was crimson, Jessica finally managed to gasp, “You idiot, are you trying to choke me to death?”
Fang Senyan didn't pay attention. With a swift movement, he pulled off his outer shirt, quickly tore several strong fabric straps from it, and snapped off a sturdy branch from a nearby tree. He then roughly pushed Jessica aside and, with a quick touch, determined her left arm had suffered no worse than a hairline fracture. He neatly bandaged her injured arm.
Jessica was, after all, just an ordinary girl, likely with a maximum health pool of fifty points. A single swig of the Infinite Potent Vodka could restore ten points. Thus, that one gulp alone brought her back close to peak condition. While a moderate injury like a fracture wouldn't heal instantly, with the vodka as a base and the simple splinting, the injury wouldn't cause pain as long as it wasn't jostled, leaving her otherwise functioning normally.
Fang Senyan selected a slow, sentimental saxophone piece titled "Going Home," restarted the engine, and said impatiently:
“Doesn’t hurt now, right? Hurry up and give me directions to Yau Ma Tei number eighteen! I’ll let you go as soon as we arrive.”
At this point, Jessica was staring at her tightly bandaged left hand in sheer astonishment before letting out an angry shriek:
“Why does it suddenly not hurt anymore? How is this possible? This bastard’s liquor has an aphrodisiac in it!”
Fang Senyan was utterly speechless. With a sharp “snap,” he slapped the wound on Jessica’s left arm. Her shriek instantly morphed into a scream of agony, her face contorting in pain. After a moment, she cursed him furiously:
“You bastard!”
Fang Senyan stated calmly: “Yau Ma Tei number eighteen, give the directions. I won't ask a third time.”
Jessica sighed in resignation: “Left turn, then get on the highway; there’s a sign up ahead.”
Fang Senyan nodded. “Fasten your seatbelt, and then close your eyes.”
Jessica asked, confused, “What are you going to do?”
Fang Senyan replied coldly, “I never lie. I told those people I’d let you go in half an hour, and I will. I wasted too much time because of this baggage, so the lost time must be made up on the road.”
“~~Crazy~~~~!”
Jessica’s first syllable, “C,” was still audible, but the word “ra” was drowned out by the terrifying roar of the engine, and the final syllable, “zy,” was lost to the wind a hundred meters behind them.
Ten minutes later, the Maserati executed a stunning drift before stopping precisely in front of Yau Ma Tei Seventeen. The tires and chassis seemed to emit a faint white smoke from the friction caused by excessive speed. Feeling exhilarated after the reckless drive, Fang Senyan agilely leaped out, slammed the car door shut, and leaned down toward Jessica, whose face was ashen, looking ready to vomit:
“You’re free. And remember to call your friend. Otherwise, if I see any news tomorrow about someone being held hostage, I will personally ensure that false report becomes a true event!”
Yau Ma Tei Seventeen was a rather shabby-looking eatery. The sign read Wei Jiao Ju (Flavor of Fish Maw), as its specialty dishes were stewed fish maw and dried fish maw. However, because the sign was so dilapidated—the character 'Wei' (Flavor) had the 'Wei' (Not Yet) part obscured by black soot, and other characters were also damaged—the name read quite offensively if one wasn't careful. It was unclear why the owner hadn't bothered fixing it.
This was a place Fang Senyan often heard his fellow crewmen mention with unanimous praise for its flavor, but he had never had the chance to visit, so he came specifically to satisfy this lingering desire.
As Fang Senyan ordered: A pot of premium battered fish maw, Wanchai shark fin soup, Gai Choy with pork offal soup, and dried plum-stuffed bamboo shoot shrimp—the dishes arrived swiftly. As the saying goes, great fame is never undeserved. The taste was indeed superb. Fang Senyan ate heartily, shoveling rice with large bites of food, clearly enjoying himself.
Just as Fang Senyan was feasting, a young woman crept into the restaurant. The moment she spotted him, she gasped in surprise:
“You actually dare to eat here?”
Fang Senyan, taking a sip of soup, couldn't help but spray a mist of it out, utterly speechless. “Hey, hey, can you ask a question with a bit more substance? Why else come to a restaurant if not to eat? Why aren't you leaving?”
Jessica was beside herself. “But, but shouldn’t you be escaping through the back door immediately and running away fast!”
“I’m not a kidnapper, thank you,” Fang Senyan stated flatly. “I’m just someone who wanted a decent meal. Why should I run? Besides, I don't seek trouble, but that doesn't mean I fear it. Even if I sit here, do you think the Hong Kong police can arrest me?”
